An exceptional mid-19th century Genevan 18K gold pocket watch by C. Lacroix
Fils, Genève, crafted circa 1850–1870 and preserved with remarkable detail. This early Swiss masterpiece features a finely made Swiss lever escapement movement with hand-fitted bridges, ruby jewel settings, and precision regulation—hallmarks of high-grade Geneva workshop production of the period.
The movement is key-wind and key-set, operating exactly as originally designed, and includes its matching antique engraved winding key. The dial displays classic Roman numerals with a sub-seconds register, retaining its elegant early enamel character.
The ornate 18K case is richly decorated with hand-engraved botanical and neoclassical motifs, crisp engine turning, and fully marked inner covers stamped “Warranted 18 Carat Fine” and serial numbered 2833. The watch measures 43.88mm and weighs an impressive 54.7 grams of solid 18K gold, giving it substantial intrinsic and collectible value.
A rare survivor of early Geneva horology, this piece is ideal for collectors of fine antique watchmaking, 18K gold pocket watches, and historically significant Swiss lever movements.

Dial: A perfect white enamel Roman numeral dial with outer minute track and subsidiary seconds dial with blued steel spade hands and blued steel seconds hand.
Case: The heavy Swiss hallmarked 18ct yellow Gold case with monogram to front cover and dated 23rd April 1900. The back cover is plain as is the inner cuvette. All cases are numbered and hallmarked. The push button to make the watch chime is to the side of the case.
Movement: The beautifully signed movement by Baume, which is fully jewelled has compensated balance and tourbillion style bridge which is a very unusual layout for a minute repeater. The highly polished fly wheel which is visible on the top plate together with the polished hammers to the side.
