David Morice. A Rare Heavy 18ct Rose Gold Pair Case Keywind Pocket Chronometer C1805.
Dial: The superb original white enamel dial fully signed and numbered David Morice London, with Roman numeral with outer minute track, with large subsidiary seconds dial at six o'clock. The original rose gold coloured hands and original blued steel seconds hand complimenting the dial beautifully, covered by a mineral glass.
Case: The excellent heavy (197grms) 18ct Rose Gold pair case fully English hallmarked London 1805 with the case maker being James Richards who worked in the City of London. Both cases are fully hallmarked and in mint condition considering how old the watch is. The movement comes out from the front of the watch when the front bezel is opened. The case are all plain with no engravings.
Movement: The signed movement David Morice Fenchurch Street London is one of the finest spring détente chronometers made from a relatively unknown English watchmaker who produced many fine technical pocket watches. The full plate movement with a beautiful highly engraved cock with diamond endstone, helical blued steel hair spring with a large balance wheel with three counter weights on the balance. The chain driven fussee movement powering this large pocket watch.
David Morice was a prominent 19th-century London watchmaker known for high-quality precision timepieces, including chronometers and watches with complex escapements. He worked from 1800 to 1832. This Gold Pair Cased Pocket chronometer is one of the finest watches produced by this English watchmaker. The Earnshaw style Spring Détente works very well keeping excellent time. This watch is a Museum piece because of it's pristine condition. It would make a fantastic addition to any collection. We sell this watch with a one year guarantee.

Dial: A perfect white enamel Roman numeral dial with outer minute track and subsidiary seconds dial with blued steel spade hands and blued steel seconds hand.
Case: The heavy Swiss hallmarked 18ct yellow Gold case with monogram to front cover and dated 23rd April 1900. The back cover is plain as is the inner cuvette. All cases are numbered and hallmarked. The push button to make the watch chime is to the side of the case.
Movement: The beautifully signed movement by Baume, which is fully jewelled has compensated balance and tourbillion style bridge which is a very unusual layout for a minute repeater. The highly polished fly wheel which is visible on the top plate together with the polished hammers to the side.
