About the Item

Glossy Gilt Explorer Introduced in 1960 and in production until 1989, the Rolex Explorer 1016 is one of the longest-running references in the brand’s history. It was born in the shadow of the 1953 Everest expedition, where Rolex’s earlier Oyster Perpetual prototypes accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay to the summit. The 1016 would carry forward that spirit—not with fanfare, but with functional simplicity. Early examples like this 1966 gilt dial variant represent the tail end of Rolex’s gilt dial production (phased out in the late '60s), making them particularly desirable. These dials were produced using a reverse gilt printing method, where the gold lettering was revealed underneath a layer of black lacquer—resulting in rich, warm typography and a uniquely reflective dial surface. No two aged alike, and many collectors appreciate it for the glossy dial that in many cases can age in all thinkable brown tones. This very example features a mirror glossy dial, the main feature it is loved for. The dial surface is in beautiful condition and doesn’t show much wear from age. The luminous material has aged to a vivid vanilla color and harmonizes with the hands. The gilt graphics are vibrant and contract amazingly with the black dial. Some loss of lume at the 10 and 11 marker, something that is not uncommon for gilt dials from this era. The good thing is, with the naked eye you have to look twice to even see it. The case is in very good and honest vintage condition showing some wear from age that we would accept for a watch that was designed as a tool. A great daily companion with a mesmerizing dial that you will love to play in the sun with. Specifications Brand: Rolex Model: Explorer I Ref. 1971 Rolex GMT Master 18k Brown Dial Ref. 1675/8
By Rolex
Located in Dubai, AE
A GMT Master in Gold A distinguished expression of Rolex's golden age of sports watches, this 1971 GMT-Master Ref. 1675 is cased entirely in 18K yellow gold and fitted with its matching and rare riveted Oyster bracelet. Far less common than its steel counterparts, the gold GMT-Master was intended for a clientele who traveled with both purpose and style—those who demanded functionality without compromising on elegance. The watch features a stunning matte brown “nipple” dial, named for its distinctive raised hour markers set in gold, paired with tritium lume and matching hands. The dial remains in beautiful condition, with a warm, even patina that complements the tone of the gold case. The gold print is is fully intact and stands out from the matte brown surface of the dial. Surrounding it is a gold bezel that is holding a beautiful and consistently faded 24 hour bezel with fat font numbers. The very interesting taupe hue of the insert lends the watch a refined and monochromatic appearance. The 40mm Oyster case remains strong with well-proportioned lugs and sharp lines. The case overall only shows light signs for its age. What truly sets this example apart is the presence of its original riveted gold Oyster bracelet, a correct and increasingly elusive pairing that enhances its period authenticity and collector appeal. The bracelet shows consistent, honest wear and a beautifully aged tone that speaks to the quiet opulence of vintage Rolex gold...

1965 Rolex Day Date Pink Gold Riveted Stretch Oyster Ref. 1807
By Rolex
Located in Dubai, AE
The elusive 1807 in Pink Gold Among vintage Rolex watches, the dial is usually the centerpiece of rarity. However, with the Day-Date 1807, the story goes further — here, the case and bracelet themselves become just as rare and significant as the dial. Launched in the 1960s, the 1807 was Rolex’s experimental twist on the classic 1803. Instead of a standard case, Rolex gave the Day-Date a distinctive “Bark” finish, hand-engraved to resemble tree bark across the bezel and bracelet center links. This detail was extraordinary for a brand known as a precision manufacturer, showcasing a rare artisanal approach. Produced in yellow, white, and pink gold, the pink examples are by far the rarest — surfacing only on very rare occasions. This example, dating to 1965, is preserved in outstanding condition. The case remains sharp, with prominent bark finishing contrasting against the matte lugs. Importantly, it retains its original pink gold riveted Oyster bracelet, licensed and manufactured in South America, featuring hallmarks on every component. Complete with 12 links, the bracelet is spring-loaded, tight, and elastic — an incredibly rare survivor after nearly 60 years. The color of the gold is another highlight.
