Very Rare True Time Capsule - Striking Green Dial - 1 Year Warranty
Today's offering showcases this exceptional new-old-stock example of one of Croton's sought after vintage Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver chronographes. It is a very cool retro watch with exotic camo green dial from a brand that has become increasingly collectable.
Despite what the photos seems to suggest all markers on the bezel present perfectly.
The Chronomaster Sea Diver represents a moment in Swiss watchmaking when ambition mattered more than categories. It is one of those watches that quietly bring together several collecting categories into a single, coherent object.
In the 1960s and '70's, brands like Croton were not trying to make “a diver” or “a racing chronograph” in isolation - they were trying to build a single wristwatch capable of handling anything its owner might reasonably ask of it. The Chronomaster is the result of that thinking: a true multi-role instrument that blends aviation, diving, and motorsport functionality into one cohesive and very wearable design.
The dial is what first sets this watch apart. Its deep green tone - camo or military green - is highly unusual for the period and dramatically rarer than the black and silver dials that dominate vintage chronographs of this era. It gives the watch a purposeful, almost tactical presence, while still remaining refined and legible.
The contrasting black subdials add depth and clarity, and the overall layout feels intentional rather than decorative, prioritizing instant readability under real-world conditions.
Functionality is layered thoughtfully across the watch. The rotating bezel is genuinely useful, allowing elapsed-time measurement or secondary time-zone tracking depending on how it is indexed. The tachymeter scale reinforces its chronograph credentials, making this a watch equally at home timing speed, distance, or duration. Nothing here is superfluous; every element exists because someone, somewhere, would have used it.
Powering it is a Landeron 248–based manual chronograph movement, part of the backbone of Swiss chronograph production in the post-war decades. Landeron movements were widely used for their robustness and reliability by many well-known makers producing serious tool chronographs. This is a movement chosen for durability and serviceability - exactly what you would expect in a watch designed to be worn, used, and trusted.
And yet, despite being conceived as a rugged instrument, the Chronomaster wears with surprising fashion. The case is full-size without being bulky, with strong geometry and clean transitions that feel resolutely mid-century rather than modern. It has presence without excess, confidence without aggression - the kind of watch that looks as correct with a leather flight jacket as it does under a cuff.
Finally, and almost impossibly, this particular example has survived as a true time capsule. It is unworn, and appears never sold at retail. It still bears its original protective caseback sticker.
While we have on a very few rare occasions seen on the internet less than a handful of Chronomasters with green dials - our extensive research couldn't find another one of this exact reference with a green dial. While we're not suggesting that it's the only one that was made, you might never stumble across another.

The factory finishing is so sharp it could nearly cut your finger if you pushed hard enough. Despite what the photos seems to suggest all markers on the bezel present perfectly.
