About the Item
Ladies Art Deco 18 Karat White Gold Watch With Enamel Inlay and Carved, Filigreed Case, c1930. Patria Watch Co was a Swiss luxury watchmaker based in Bienne, Switzerland and founded in 1892 by Louis Brandt et Frère. Patria manufactured ladies' watches in the early 1900s through to the 1930s they ranged from modest steel case construction to more extravagant silver and 18k gold pieces with decadent engravings and craftsmanship. This is a great example of the later. The rectangular 18kt white gold case with black enamel decoration and leaf carving houses the original, signed 15 jewel mechanical movement with winding stem containing a cabochon Tuxedo Agate. The interior of the signed case has engine turned decoration and is signed 18K and L Co. (L. Lewitt
Co. Inc. Case Trademark). The dial has black enamel arabic numbers, the center with floral engraving and centered by steel hands. The floral engraving is repeated on the buckle. The movement has been serviced and in perfect running order. It has a new black grosgrain strap with the original 18k white gold buckle. A great original example of Art Deco workmanship.

This is a rare watch, in fact it is the only example we have ever seen. A ladies Art Deco, "Dr's" Pulse watch which was likely supplied to a nurse. Based on its serial numbers it predates 1925, making it perhaps more than 100 years old. Yet we just serviced it and functions is if it was brand new. The large sub-seconds dial at the lower half allows for easy reading of the seconds to take a heart rate. Which suggests it was a nurses watch...
