About the Item

Le Jour Depthograf Diver’s Wristwatch circa 1960s. This watch features an extra large 45mm in diameter and 14mm thick stainless steel case. Lug to lug measurement is 46mm. Featuring a with black painted bezel and screw down case back. Original crowns, one for turning the inner rotating bezel, the other for setting the time and manual winding. The plastic depth tube is still intact around the acrylic crystal (the deeper you go this tube is meant to fill with water and indicate depth, however no guarantee it still works correctly or if the watch is still waterproof). Black dial with red and white printed Arabic numerals as well as white box and minute dot accents. White wide and straight hands with patina’d luminous and red second hand. The dial says Le Jour, 17 Jewels, Depthograf, Selfwinding, SWISS MADE. Powered by manual wind 17 jewel movement (ETA 2472). The back of the case says Stainless Steel Case, 20 ATM, Depthograf. This model is a first cousin of the Nivada Grenchen Depthomatic. LeJour contracted with Nivada Grenchen to manufacture this watch for them. The depth tube is a patented depth meter using a Bourdon Tube, as used by the Cousteau Diving Team back in the 1960’s when this watch was made. A very unique and impressive diver’s model.
