About the Item
Our extremely rare vintage Nivada Depthmaster Scubapro features a "tuna can" monocoque case of 49mm with beautifully patinated dial and coeval hands. When it was launched, it was one of the most waterproof dive watches available with a (at point of sale) rating of 500m/ 1650ft. Scubapro was (and remains) one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of diving equipment. Given the popularity of diving in the 1970s, when this watch was produced, Scubapro worked to manufacture a robust and efficient dive watch. Some were manufactured in part by Nivada and branded Scubapro. This example is the rarer Nivada dial and with the most complicated case, usually sold to commercial/ professional deep sea divers. This example is presented in good condition given its age and purpose, and benefits from a sympathetic restoration with new screws for the case, service and light case restoration. The glass, dial and hands are original, the glass bearing some testament to its usage with some light marks. This Nivada comes directly from one collection and will likely make a great addition to another. A new generic Nato strap is fitted. We date this Depthmaster to c. 1970s, neither box nor papers are present.
