About the Item
Our vintage and rare Smiths Deluxe A404 Aquatite, is one of the references as issued to the Everest expedition and declared by Sir Edmund Hillary as carried to the summit. The A404 is manually wound, features a sub seconds dial in a 33mm steel case excluding crown with screwdown case back. The dial and syringe hands are nicely and coevally patinated. We date this Smiths "Made in England" to c.1955. The "Everest Range" of Smiths are scarce and worthy of adding to any serious vintage collection, and eminently usable for every day use, whether exploring mountain ranges or cityscapes.
