About the Item
One of Cartier’s most unconventional shapes
Before the Baignoire became collectible, it was simply unusual. Long, narrow, and intentionally outside the norms of traditional watch design, it sits in the same lineage as Cartier’s more unconventional creations, pieces that prioritize proportion and form over practicality. The Baignoire Allongée takes that idea to its extreme, stretching the case into something sculptural and instantly recognizable once you know what you’re looking at.
Why the Allongée matters
The Allongée was never widely produced and remains one of the less familiar silhouettes in Cartier’s catalog. Its appeal comes from form rather than complication, an idea that famed rapper Tyler, The Creator has clearly picked up on. It’s often grouped mentally with Cartier’s more eccentric designs, watches that reward people who notice shape, proportion, and negative space first.
Clearly presented condition
Condition throughout is well preserved and transparently described. The case remains clean and well defined, the dial is crisp with bold Roman numerals, and the manual-wind movement is fully functional and running as it should.
It should be noted that the bezel has been diamond-set after manufacture. All other core components are original, including the dial, movement, case, and caseback. The watch is fitted with a leather strap and signed gold buckle, and it includes its box and papers.
A Cartier for those who notice design
This is not a conventional Cartier, and that’s exactly the appeal. It’s a Baignoire Allongée for someone drawn to watches that sit slightly outside the mainstream, pieces that feel more like considered design than traditional timekeeping.
