Rare Annamese Stoneware with underglaze Blue and Painted Green, 15-16th Century
Located in seoul, KR
A bird on a tree. Stoneware with underglaze blue and painted green. The leaves were creatively expressed with green-glaze. The use of green overpainting, a distinctive element in Annamese ceramics, parallels similar examples documented in The Age of Discovery: Asian Ceramics Found Along the Maritime Silk Road, particularly on pages 59, 64, and 66 of the Annamese ship catalog. Such pieces were widely traded along the Maritime Silk Road, showcasing the rich cultural exchange between Vietnam and other regions. Dates : 15th century Le Dynasty Region : North Annam, Vietnam Type : Dish Found/Acquired : Southeast Asia , South China Sea, Hoi An Ship Reference : Double checked with reference to the original catalogue 1) Butterfield Treasures Hoi An Hoard Auction Catalogs / San Francisco Butterfields 2000 2) Asian Ceramic Found along Maritime Silk Route / National Maritime Museum of Korea * Vietnamese trade ceramics Around the mid-14th century, Vietnam developed its ceramics production technology by producing blue and white porcelain, and began to export it overseas. During this period, China Ming Dynasty implemented a policy of lifting the ban from 1371 to 1657 and restricted foreign trade. This served as a good opportunity in the trade history of Vietnamese ceramics, and ceramic exports...

Antique pottery bowl from Kumamoto, Japan / Shodai ware / Edo / 18-19 thcentury
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
We have a unique Japanese aesthetic sense. And only we can introduce unique items through our purchasing channels in Japan and the experience we have gained so far, in such a way that no one else can imitate. It is speculated that this pottery was fired in the Shodai kiln in Kumamoto Prefecture during the Edo period, around the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. It is characterized by the use of iron-rich clay and the appearance of a white glaze that looks like falling snow. As a feature, using clay with a lot of iron, It is characterized by a white glaze that looks like snow. This vessel is made with two types of glaze. One is straw ash glaze and the other is rice husk ash glaze. This rice husk ash glaze changes to a white glaze. This pot is very beautiful with a petal-like rim. However, there is one spot where the crack has been repaired. The part marked with a red arrow has been broken once, but it seems to have been glued later. Therefore, it will not leak even if you put water in it. It's not very noticeable so I wouldn't worry about it. This Shodai ware was made in Kumamoto Prefecture and was used there, so there are not many items in Japan. It is a rare item. Also, a wooden box is included, but it says "Karatsu ware...

Japanese Antique Pottery Hanging Vase/Edo/1800s/Boat-Shaped Vase
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
This is a black-glazed boat-shaped pottery made in the late Edo period of Japan. This will be a hanging vase. Pour water directly into this and decorate the flowers. Also, perhaps this is a pottery called Seto-yaki. Seto is an ancient kiln located in Aichi Prefecture. Various shapes and colors were produced there, and in the late Edo period, dark glazed pottery was also produced. When a dark brown glaze is applied, the areas with thick glaze look black, and the areas with thin glaze look brown. I put water directly into this and left it for a day, but there was no water leakage. I would say it is in very good condition. Although it is a small item, it has a very strong presence. It has a glossy and elegant appearance. There are many types of Seto pottery...

Annamese blue and white bowl, circa 15th century.
Located in seoul, KR
The bowl's design features fluid, dynamic brushstrokes typical of Annamese pottery, where cobalt blue underglaze was used to create intricate patterns before a clear glaze was applied. The artwork, with its foliage and floral motifs, suggests a connection to the natural world—a common theme in Vietnamese art. Such items were highly traded, and their recovery from shipwrecks helps us understand the extent of maritime commerce in Southeast Asia during the 15th and 16th centuries. This piece embodies the craftsmanship and aesthetic values of the period, providing insights into the cultural and economic contexts of its time. Dates : 15th century Le Dynasty Region : North Annam, Vietnam Type : Dish Found/Acquired : Southeast Asia , South China Sea, Hoi An Ship Diameter : 17cm Reference : Double checked with reference to the original catalogue Butterfield Treasures Hoi An Hoard Auction Catalogs / San Francisco Butterfields 2000 * Vietnamese trade ceramics Around the mid-14th century, Vietnam developed its ceramics production technology by producing blue and white porcelain, and began to export it overseas. Pair of Bowls from Shipwreck, Late Ming Era(16-17th century)
Located in seoul, KR
These shallow bowls feature stylized floral and wave motifs rendered in fluid cobalt brushwork beneath a clear glaze. The slightly everted rims and neatly cut foot rings are characteristic of export wares produced in southern kilns during the Ming period. Marine encrustations and glaze degradation attest to prolonged submersion in a maritime context, offering valuable insight into historical trade routes and overseas demand for Chinese ceramics. Period: Late Ming Dynasty Type: Bowl Medium : Blue and White Condition : Good(Marine encrustation is attached on one bowl and it's crack) Provenance : Presumably from the shipwrecked Binh Thuan...
