Susan Hable is inspired by the work of David Hockney, Milton Avery, Henri Matisse, Alex Katz, Howard Hodgkins, Hilma af Klint, Georgia O'Keeffe, Barbara Hepworth and Constantin Brâncuși. With humor and a bit of mischief, Susan Hable’s “Don't Pick The Flowers!” is a body of work that is at once a refuge and a playground. Inspired by her sumptuous garden just outside of her Athens studio, Susan flows from one medium to the next from painting to collage to sculpture. Susan sees her garden as a place for adventure and daydreaming, challenging her perceptions of what her Art can be. Artist Biography: William Robert Stevenson was born in 20 May 1925 in Eugene, Oregon. His family moved to Minneapolis, MN but he promptly returned to Oregon and Washington during the Great Depression to work in the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Hoping to study Art, his future was sidetracked when he was drafted into the United States Army at age 17 years old in early 1942. Being a strong swimmer, and having worked at stables as a child, he initially served in the last US Cavalry Corps, and also as a Swimming Instructor for the United States Army. “LarA 011” is a unique architectural sculpture from the Antropotectura series by Spanish artist José Perozo. Cast in black pigmented cement, this head-and-shoulders bust presents a fusion of the human figure with modular architectural volumes. The vertical extension of block-like forms emerges from the cranial area, transforming the head into a structural topography. This hybrid configuration invites reflection on the human body as both inhabited and inhabiting — a site of memory, construction, and symbolic permanence. The formal arrangement of the sculpture is symmetrical but discontinuous, with geometric protrusions interrupting the organic contours of the face. These elements suggest urban formations, perhaps ruins or unfinished constructions, anchored to the surface of the skin. This layered structure evokes the aesthetic of posthuman figuration and resonates with speculative architectural languages often seen in anime environments — particularly those of Studio Ghibli or early cybernetic landscapes. The matte black surface finish accentuates the raw tactility of the material. Subtle tonal variations, occasional air pockets, and manual traces from the casting process are preserved, underscoring the artist’s interest in the sculptural language of construction materials. These choices align with the conceptual underpinning of Antropotectura, a term coined by Perozo to describe his ongoing investigation into the convergence of embodiment and architecture. Based in Chicago, IL, contemporary artist Michael Thompson creates unique kites, collages and mixed media works assembled from material fragments of past and present collected in his travels. In his ongoing series of memory jugs, Thompson adorns stoneware vessels with a kaleidoscope of ceramic shards, found objects, and pocket-sized trinkets he collected over the course of his life. Also known as forget-me-not jugs or spirit jars, memory jugs are African American folk art objects that honor a loved one who has recently passed. Small tokens and mementos of the deceased are gathered and affixed to the exterior of a jug or vase, an abundance of memories that celebrates a life lived to the fullest. Michael Thompson applies this tradition to his own practice, creating tactile assemblages of this and that. Formed in the manner of collage, each jug honors the lost memories of generations past and his own memories of personally discovering each item.
