Sparrows Amidst Blackberry Bushes - Vintage Giacomelli Ornithological Print
Located in Langweer, NL
Charming Sparrows Amidst Blackberry Bushes - Vintage Giacomelli Ornithological Print, circa 1891. This exquisite print, titled "Les Mûres" (The Blackberries), showcases the delicate beauty of nature through the eyes of renowned French artist Hector Giacomelli. The artwork captures a serene moment in the underbrush, where two sparrows perch gently among lush green leaves and ripe blackberries. The intricate detailing of the birds and the surrounding foliage reflects Giacomelli's mastery in depicting avian life and natural settings. Hector Giacomelli (1822–1904), a celebrated French watercolorist, engraver, and illustrator, was best known for his vivid and lifelike paintings of birds. His works, often inspired by the natural world around him, have been highly regarded for their detail, color, and emotional depth. This print is a Farbdruck (color print), a technique involving the use of multiple colors to produce a richly detailed image. Likely created using chromolithography—a popular method at the time—this print brings out the vibrant greens of the leaves and the deep reds and purples of the blackberries with striking clarity and realism. The print dates to 1891, part of a series by Giacomelli that focused on birds and their natural habitats. Measuring approximately 32 by 23.5 cm, the print features wide white margins, which, though slightly browned and stained with age, serve to frame the artwork beautifully. The print was likely published in France, where Giacomelli lived and worked, and where his art was widely appreciated. As with many of Giacomelli's prints from this era, this artwork was likely produced in a limited edition, making it a prized piece for collectors of ornithological art. The exact number of prints made is unknown, but given its age and condition, it would be a valued item in any collection. The print shows typical signs of aging, with some browning and slight staining on the margins. However, the central image remains vivid, capturing the viewer's attention with its lifelike portrayal of sparrows amidst the blackberry bushes. This print, like others in the series, exemplifies Giacomelli's dedication to capturing the beauty of nature, making it a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage art...

Museum Quality Bronze of Christ Wall Plaque Sculpture "Jesus Carrying the Cross"
Located in Lisse, NL
Stunningly powerful and meaningful work of religious art. With works of religious art being one of our specialties, over the decades we have sold quite a few special antiques in this field. With this bronze antique the artist clearly shows us a fragment out of one of the most famous scenes that took place in the history of mankind. Christ has already been beaten, mocked, given a wreath of thorns and having to carry the enormous cross. As you can see the quality of the details and the workmanship is excellent, but the scene and its meaning ofcourse is even more impressive. Please notice how particularly the facial features reveil the peaceful state of being that lies underneath the exterior of this Christ sculpture...

Capturing Light: Photographic Innovations of the Late 19th Century, 1897
Located in Langweer, NL
This is an original antique print titled 'Photographische Apparate II'. It shows various photo equipment and cameras. This print originates from Volume 5 of Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, published between 1893 and 1897. Meyers Konversations-Lexikon or Meyers Lexikon was a major encyclopedia in the German language that existed in various editions, and by several titles, from 1839 to 1984, when it merged with the Brockhaus Enzyklopädie. Joseph Meyer (1796–1856), who had founded the publishing house Bibliographisches Institut in 1826, intended to issue a universal encyclopaedia meant for a broad public: people having a general knowledge as well as businessmen, technicians and scholars, considering contemporary works like those of Pierer and Brockhaus to be superficial or obsolete. The cameras in more detail described: The print titled "Photographische Apparate II" features a detailed collection of photographic equipment from the late 19th century. This would have been state-of-the-art technology at the time, showcasing the various types of cameras and accessories used in the field of photography. The print originates from Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, which was a major German encyclopedia that was known for its comprehensive and well-illustrated articles. The fact that this print comes from Volume 5 of the encyclopedia, published between 1893 and 1897, places it at the end of the 19th century, a period of rapid advancement in photographic technology. The apparatuses shown include: 1. **Darkroom lamps and safelights** used to provide illumination in darkrooms without affecting light-sensitive materials. 2. **Various camera designs**, including folding cameras, box cameras, and plate cameras, reflecting the technological diversity of the time. 3. **A camera with a plate magazine** allowing for multiple exposures before needing to reload. 4. **A stereo camera...

Antique and Quality Hand Carved Solid Oak Gothic Church Wall Bracket or Shelf
Located in Lisse, NL
Great looking and deeply carved Gothic Revival bracket for displaying a Saint statue. This Gothic console for wall mounting dates from the late 1800s and it has a marvelous combination of floral Gothic elements that make it a joy to own, to use and to look at. All handcrafted more than 100 years ago and always well taken care of, this Gothic Revival wall bracket has the most wonderful shape and a striking patina. This organic design with its natural, flowing lines of the deeply carved Gothic leaves also give it an almost circular look and feel. This rare church relic was once connected to a church column where it would undoubtedly have been the base for a marvelous Saint statue. If you look closely at the image of the backside, you will be able to see that the rounded part has been professionally flattened out so that it now can be used against a (flat) wall. Apart from a few minor imperfections this Gothic antique of approximately one hundred and fifty years old could not be in better condition. Thanks to the thick wooden opening in the back, mounting this antique bracket...
