Hammered Silver Bowl by Tapio Wirkkala, TW 243, Finland, 1971, Decorative Bowl
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Rare and beautiful handmade, hammered .925 Sterling silver bowl by Tapio Wirkkala. Weight: 320g Marked KÄSITYÖ (handmade) and with designer's monogram TW. A leading figure of Post-war European design, Finnish designer and sculptor Tapio Wirkkala’s far-reaching career spans multiple fields, from jewelry, product, and furniture design to sculpture and other art objects. A versatile artist and designer, he created products from glass, wood, porcelain, metal, and plastics, made gorgeous abstract sculptures, and worked in exhibition and graphic design. His work with plywood asserted him as one of the pioneers of the Finnish Modernism movement in sculpture, using a traditional Finnish carving knife to begin his design process. Some of his most notable works include Finland’s banknotes that were introduced in 1955 and remained in circulation until 1981. He also famously designed the Finlandia vodka bottle and Iittala’s Ultima Thule set of kitchen glasses.

Kichizaemon Raku Seinyu XIII "13th" Signed Antique Japanese Raku Chawan Tea Bowl
Located in Studio City, CA
A wonderfully glazed, impeccably made Chawan tea bowl by famed Japanese master potter the 13th Kichizaemon Raku, Seinyu (1887-1944) who was the eldest son of Konyu - the 12th Kichizaemon of the Raku family line of potters - known as the most noted and celebrated tradition of pottery within the world of Japanese tea. Kichizaemon Raku was the 13th master to carry on the family's esteemed name and tradition. The bowl features shifting textures and deep, rich colours which radiate in the light. The term "Raku" was derived from the site where clay was dug in Kyoto in the late 16th century. The Kanji character for Raku translates to "enjoyment" or "fun/delightful" For 15 generations it has been the title and seal used by a lineage of potters whose work formed the central tradition in Japan. This lineage believes that 'Raku' refers to the potters who use the technique, not the technique itself. In the 16th century, the first of these potters, Chojiro is said to have come under the patronage of the Japanese tea master, Sen-No-Rikyu. According to legend, in 1598 a few years after Chojiro's death, ruler, Hideyoshi Toyotomi bestowed upon his adopted son, Jokei, a golden seal with the written symbol "Raku." Both the name and the ceramic style have been passed down through the family to the present ever since. The name and the style of ware have become influential in both Japanese culture and literature. Raku ware marked an important point in the historical development of Japanese ceramics, as it was the first ware to use a seal mark and the first to focus on close collaboration between potter and patron. Other famous Japanese clay artists...

Boucheron Paris Porcelain Trinket Tray by Limoges, Hand-Painted, France c.1980s
By Boucheron, Limoges
Located in Moreno Valley, CA
Boucheron Paris Porcelain Trinket Tray by Limoges, Hand-Painted, France c.1980s Elevate your space with this exquisite hand-painted porcelain trinket tray, made in Limoges, France for the iconic luxury jeweler Boucheron Paris. This square vide-poche features a vibrant illustration of the Boucheron Maison at Place Vendôme, with a majestic Maharajah riding an elephant in front, framed by a rich purple serpent motif border. The image depicts a historical event related to Boucheron, a French luxury jewelry house, and features an elephant procession in front of their boutique. This image likely commemorates the famous elephant procession organized by Boucheron in 1928, when Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala visited Paris. The Maharaja arrived with a large retinue and an impressive collection of jewels, which he commissioned Boucheron to reset. This event was a significant moment in the history of both Boucheron and high-end jewelry, showcasing the opulence and global reach of luxury in the early 20th century. The image emphasizes the grandeur of the occasion and the unique way in which Boucheron engaged with its distinguished clientele. Hand-crafted from fine French Limoges porcelain, this decorative catchall tray is ideal for holding jewelry, cigars, rings, or keys on a vanity, dresser, or cocktail table. Marked on the base: "Boucheron Paris, Porcelaine de Limoges, France." A rare and collectible luxury accent piece, perfect for those who appreciate Parisian heritage, French porcelain, and timeless design from the world of high jewelry. Maker: Porcelaine de Limoges for Boucheron Origin: France, c.1980s Material: Fine porcelain Design: Hand-painted Place Vendôme with elephant and snake motif Shape: Square tray / ashtray / vide-poche Marking: "Boucheron Paris, Porcelaine de Limoges France" Keywords: Boucheron Paris porcelain tray, Limoges trinket dish...
