Los Castillo Silver Plate Figural Owl Pitcher with Abalone Inlay and Glass Eyes

This MCM lidded pitcher was made by highly regarded taller Los Castillo of Mexico. The piece has been made in the form of a stylized owl and features a brushed silver plate exterior along with abalone accents in the form of overlapping feather shaped tiles which cover the lid and breast. The owl's beak is made up of inlaid opalescent mother of pearl while the area above the beak and at the foot are composed of smooth inlaid abalone. The wide arched handle at the back of the piece is also accented with inlaid abalone. The owl has a six curved silver plate talons at the base and is finished with two rounded turquoise blue glass eyes.
The underside of the owl bears the circular Los Castillo hallmark along with the words Hecho A Mano Mexico and design number 329.
