The Wednesday After Labor Day, Oil Painting
By Keith Thomson
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
A lifeguard sits on her chair, watching over an empty beach. The deep blue sky meets the calm sea, while the wet red sand mirrors the scene above. The stillness and fading colors evoke nostalgia, capturing the fleeting nature of summer. The title reflects a moment of pause between what was and what will be. Artist Keith Thomson used oil paint and ink to create this evocative piece.

About the Artist
Alabama-based artist Keith Thomson creates quick-witted, mixed-media artwork that blends realism and surrealism. His background as a political cartoonist in the 90s is reflected in the sharp storytelling his artwork achieves. He combines stylized realism and everyday subject matter with surreal details and ironic twists. He begins his work as digital sketches using animation software, then he transfers the sketch onto the canvas and begins applying oil paint. In addition to painting, he is a writer, of mostly spy novels and nonfiction articles. His writing prowess shines through in his witty descriptions of his pieces.

California Eucalyptus, Oak and Pond Landscape
By Jesse Don Rasberry
Located in Soquel, CA
Beautiful landscape painting of a California pond with Eucalyptus and Oak trees by Jesse Don Rasberry (American, 20th Century). Presented in a rustic wooden frame. Signed on verso. Acquired directly from the artist. Image: 8.25"H x 10"L. Rasberry was born in Oklahoma and soon after relocated to Lodi, California. Growing up in close proximity to wide open agricultural land and the scenic San Joaquin River Delta had a profound impact on Rasberry and influenced and inspired his paintings. Full Bio: Jesse Don Rasberry was born on November 10, 1940 in rural, picturesque Oklahoma. Shortly after his birth, his family relocated to California, living a short while in Palm Springs, before eventually settling in the grape-growing region of Lodi in San Joaquin County. Later, the family moved a short distance south to Stockton, California, where Rasberry's father supported the group as a builder and carpenter. They would remain in the Stockton/Lodi area throughout Rasberry's adolescent and formative years. Growing up in close proximity to wide open agricultural land and the scenic San Joaquin River Delta had a profound impact on Rasberry, and would later form the foundation and inspiration for his artistic endeavors. The family traveled frequently, which exposed him to the dramatic landscapes of the Southwest. As a young child, Rasberry showed a strong interest in art and the natural world. He attended grade school and high school in Stockton, where Rasberry pursued drafting and drawing. Throughout his life, he always found time in his leisure to draw portraits, wildlife, and architecture. Rasberry also enjoyed woodworking, eventually following in his father's footsteps, embarking on a career as a general contractor and home builder. In 1979, Rasberry relocated to Texas where he continued to work as a general contractor and home builder. During the early 1980s, he commenced a new career as a decorative and fine arts dealer. This career was more in keeping with his appreciation of art. As a dealer in the trade, he was exposed to all manner of art from the 19th and 20th centuries, which served to sharpen his eye and provided much inspiration for the soon-to-be artist. In the early 1980s, while in Texas, Rasberry started painting, primarily landscapes of Texas and California. He spent time with, and drew inspiration from, the regional artists Bill Warden, and Louise Collins. As time passed, Rasberry began to devote more time to his painting, and by the turn of this century, art had become his primary focus. Essentially self-taught, Rasberry received some instruction from the late Bill Warden of Texas. On occasion, he paints with other artists during classes and on plein air painting excursions, as with Ning Hou...

Light Force - Original Large Oversized Abstract Expressionism Cubist Painting
By Frankie Alfonso
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Cuban-American artist Frankie Alfonso creates interwoven paintings using lively colors and spontaneous, well-balanced compositions. His work is best described as a style of automatic writing where he manipulates simple lines to make complex arrangements of balance and harmony. His style is a mix of cubism, cartoon animation, surrealism, graffiti, and abstract expressionism. This large original graffiti-inspired artwork is 57 inches high by 80 inches wide. The sides of the artwork are painted as a continuation of the front and it does not require framing. This painting is signed by the artist on the front. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Alfonso began drawing at an early age. He first found inspiration in comic books and enjoyed drawing his favorite superheroes from an unconventional perspective. As a teenager, he started to experiment with oils, and acrylics and took his passion for art to the canvas. Even after painting for over 20 years, he still pushes the boundaries while experimenting with mixed media, including oil, acrylic, gouache, and spray paint. Alfonso attended art school in Tampa, Florida, and traveled Europe for several years in search of inspiration and his own unique voice in art. Alfonso used his in-depth studies of European Masters and was inspired by Picasso, Braque, Klee, Dali, Basquiat, De Kooning, and Matisse. The joyful expressions of his artworks resonate in a positive light and inspire creative thinking and innovation. The Bather by Childe Hassam
By Childe Hassam
Located in New Orleans, LA
Childe Hassam 1859-1935 American The Bather Signed and dated “Childe Hassam” (lower right) Oil on canvas Considered by many to be America’s foremost Impressionist painter, Childe Hassam composed his tranquil and intimate oil on canvas The Bather in the early years of the 20th century. The creation of the artwork aligns with a period of Hassam’s career where the artist’s palette was transforming, matching ever closer with the pale and pastel hues of French Impressionists like Claude Monet. Even the subject — a nude woman — represents a greater alignment with the Impressionist project, as artists of the movement and their non-mythological and non-biblical nudes still generated cries of indecency. With Hassam’s signature brushwork and attention to color, The Bather serves as a dream-like vision, serene and sensuous, of a young woman bathing in a lush forest. While the artist's skill for landscape painting is on display, it is Hassam's command of form, light and color that brings this canvas to life. He creates a captivating composition, placing the nude subject in the bottom left of the canvas. The soft, undulating curves of the woman's body in contrapposto and the glow of her fair skin are balanced by the strong verticals and deep earth tones of the tall trees to her right. Hassam delicately frames the nude in the vivid blues of the distant water, building luminous color that further draws the viewer’s eye and results in a somewhat voyeuristic appeal — endowing his nude with both a natural innocence and an intentional sensuality. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Childe Hassam began his artistic career as a freelance illustrator, working for national publications such as Harper’s Weekly, Scribner’s Monthly, and The Century. His first solo exhibition of watercolors took place in Boston in 1883, and he quickly catapulted onto the international scene, winning a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889. The year before the present work was created, he received the Webb Prize from the Society of American Artists for another landscape painted at Gloucester. Hassam would receive numerous other awards throughout his career, most notably the Gold Medal for Distinguished Services to Fine Art from the American Dealers Association. A true master, Hassam depicted a way of life characteristic of both American and French society, and his work elucidates a critical chapter in American art history. Today, his work resides in the Oval Office of the White House and in numerous important museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, among others. This painting will be included in Stuart P. Feld's and Kathleen M. Burnside's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's work. Circa 1905 Canvas: 24 1/2“ high x 20 18” wide Frame: 35 7/8“ high x 31 1/4” wide x 3 1/4“ deep Provenance: Private Collection of William Young...
