Mid-20th Century Baltic Amber Necklace with Graduated Polished Beads
Located in Worcester, GB
Mid-20th Century Baltic Amber Necklace with Graduated Polished Beads A finely made vintage amber necklace, dating to the mid-20th century, strung with 89 polished beads displaying the warm cognac tones and internal inclusions characteristic of natural Baltic amber. Each bead is individually hand-knotted on cord, and the necklace is fitted with a lobster clasp, likely a later replacement. The amber has good translucency with natural variation throughout, ranging from pale honey to deeper brandy hues. The beads are gently graduated, giving the necklace a harmonious balance and fluid line when worn. Measuring approximately 53cm in length and weighing 12.2 grams, it sits comfortably at collarbone level and wears well either alone or layered. Likely produced c.1950s–1970s, this is a classic example of mid-century Baltic amber jewellery...

Boxing Carpet, Randolph Turpin, Middleweight Champion of the World, Sugar Ray
Located in Oxfordshire, GB
A large vintage Randolph Turpin carpet. A wonderful impressive carpet made for the British boxer Randolph Turpin (nick named 'The Leamington Licker'). The carpet measuring nearly 3 meters by 4 meters was made by a life long friend, Mr Dennis Quayle, and would make a remarkable wall hanging. Quayle owned a high quality furniture store in Birmingham and supplied amongst other furnishings, high quality handmade carpets. Following Turpin’s triumph over Sugar Ray Robinson to win the world title in 1951, Mr Quayle had the carpet made as a gift for Turpin. Later in Turpin’s life when in trouble, Quayle bought back the carpet in order to help him financially, with the carpet remaining in the Quayle family ever since. Randolph Turpin is one of Britain’s greatest sportsmen who plied his trade with courage, honor and skill and gave Britain one of its best nights in a boxing ring. As a 33-1 underdog Turpin humbled the greatest fighter the world had seen, Sugar Ray Robinson, at Earls Court in London to become Middleweight Champion of the World. Sugar Ray was at his peak and the fight was the culmination of the flamboyant champion’s famous tour of Europe. Unable to cope with Turpin’s long reach and unusual wide stance the American struggled to land punches and Turpin’s strength inside was too much and he took the win on points after 15 rounds. He would lose the belt in a rematch 64 days later but Turpin’s achievement is a remarkable one which crowns a distinguished boxing career, he was later inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame in 2001. Randolph Turpin's titles:- British Middleweight 17th Oct 1950 European Middleweight 27th Feb 1951 World Middleweight 10th July 1951 Commonwealth Middleweight 2nd Oct 1952 Won the British Light...

The Life of a Forgotten Magicians
Located in London, GB
The Life of a Forgotten Magicians We are proud to offer a unique collection of one of London’s most unquestionably entertaining magicians known as Bernard and Ms Radar. A fascinating collection of 1940s-1960s items relating to the telepathic magic act 'Bernard and Miss Radar', a mind reading husband and wife duo, who extensively toured British theatres performing their telepathy based act and who were apparently the recipients of the 'World Convention of Magicians Award', which they received at the Magic Circle Convention in London in 1955. The collection comprises the basis for their act; 2 large handmade jigsaw puzzles, a “Radar” hat, top hat and other associated items with which they performed. There is also a large quantity (over 1000) of publicity photographs, theatre contracts, Magic Circle programmes, scrapbooks and other ephemera relating to their career, plus approximately fifteen original 1940s and 1950s theatre and other posters and several hand bills and flyers, all including Bernard and Miss Radar on the billing, along with other variety acts of the period. Some of the theatre posters included are; The Hippodrome, Eastbourne, Arcadia Theatre, Skegness, Commodore, Ryde, The Knightstone, Weston-Super-Mare and The Palace Theatre, Reading, which now all been framed to preserve them for display. Dimensions in inches: (Poster sizes) H 32” x W 22” x D 2” Origin: England Condition: Aged through wear and tear is present across all the item, some fading across the posters however they are not torn or damp. Some of the hand painted items also show aged wear and light discolouration. Please take note that these items are over 70 years old and would have been used as part of this magician’s act, therefore its safe to say these items all show age, however, are very well preserved. Please review all the photos and propose questions were unsure of the condition to avoid any disappointment. Over 1000 artifacts - most not pictured due to volume of items. Postage cost is high due to the weight (30kg) and volume of items in this lot, 10 posts mounted, 1 full box of archived material, top hat box...
