View from the Train: Cityscape Oil Painting, View of Brooklyn
By Patty Neal
Located in Hudson, NY
View from the Train, 2019 24" X 40" x 1", oil on canvas This contemporary oil painting depicting a metropolitan view is the work of realist painter Patty Neal. The painting offers an intimate view of the city, as seen from a window, as it peeks from behind two metal structures. The dark browns and bright golds beautifully compliment the dusty blue, gray sky. Neal works highlight everyday city scenes, utilitarian infrastructure, and industrial or electrical apparatus. Artist statement: A life is an accumulation of experiences: visual, emotional and mental. By compartmentalizing these snippets of life we create boundaries. The focus of my work for many years has been the exploration of these various life aspects and how they are bound together or bound from each other. My process is often literally composed of boundaries. I make a painting by putting together multiple panels, or I segment a single panel into separate visual spaces. The works are made up of pieces or elements of city and landscape. While exploring the concepts of boundaries I play with visual “reality.” Sometimes I combine images that are upside down with those that are not and juxtapose images from different contexts. Literal boundaries, such as walls fences, expanses of water and highway median strips are also used. My intent is to invite viewers to look beyond these boundaries to see the possibilities of a connected whole. Summer Bloom - Floral Figurative Portrait Feminine
By Elise Remender
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Elise Remender captures the romantic glamour of a bygone era in her contemporary figurative paintings that blend classical fine art and contemporary pop realism. Fantasy, mid-century fashion, and the glamour of travel and coastal living inform soft brush strokes and abstracted beauty; reminiscent of vintage advertisements and dusted sunlight. This original 50-inch square painting evokes a sense of delight and playfully nods at summery vintage aesthetics. This one-of-a-kind painting is painted with acrylic paint on canvas. It is signed by Remender on the front bottom right corner of the artwork. The sides are painted as a continuation of the front and it does not require framing. Free delivery within the local Los Angeles area. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity issued by the gallery. Remender grew up in Arizona and is based in Southern California, but she has traveled all over the world gaining inspiration for her work. Her most recent series, Bathing Beauties, which captures the human form and abstracts it through light and reflection, was inspired by the vintage elegance and history of Southeast Asia’s historic hotel pools and gardens. It evokes a bygone era when Ernest Hemingway and Jackie O. were among the clientele. “I’m a bit of an old soul and there is a sense of elegance and beauty that has been lost in modern-day society, and I seek to recapture this essence in my work. I’m creating a sort of fantasy world of luxury, leisure, and old Hollywood glamour.” Her work has appeared in galleries in the US and Asia and in GQ Magazine, Architectural Digest, Dwell, California Home, People, among many other publications. Her paintings hang in luxury properties including The Ritz Carlton San Francisco, The Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas, and Hilton properties across the United States, as well as in the homes of celebrity collectors including Ryan Seacrest and Kylie Jenner. Still Life with Pears and Pomegranate by Mario Maserati. Signed and Dated 1927.
Located in Firenze, IT
Painting "Still Life with Pears and Pomegranate" by Mario Maserati Title: Still Life with Pears and Pomegranate Artist: Mario Maserati Year: 1927 Dimensions: 74 cm x 67 cm Signature: Signed and dated Frame: Gilt wooden frame The painting depicts a still life with pears and pomegranate, a typical subject for many artists exploring the beauty and magic simplicity of everyday objects. The composition is solid, with the fruit arranged in a balanced and harmonious manner, highlighted by meticulous attention to detail and color. The pears, apples and pomegranate are rendered with great realism, using light and shadow to give the scene depth and vibrancy. Mario Maserati: Life, Studies, and Influences Mario Maserati (1890-1981) was an Italian painter known for his contribution to realism in the interwar period. Born in Voghera, in the province of Pavia, he was part of a family that would leave a significant mark in the history of art and the automotive industry. Mario Maserati studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, one of Italy's most prestigious institutions for artistic training. His studies at Brera allowed Maserati to develop a solid academic foundation that influenced his realistic style and attention to detail. Here, he had the opportunity to refine his technical skills and engage with the artistic movements of the time. Early Influences and Artistic Development During his training, Mario Maserati was influenced by Renaissance masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio, known for their mastery of realism and use of light. However, one of the most significant influences on him was Paul Cézanne. Cézanne's approach to depicting reality, with his focus on geometric forms and colors, deeply impacted Maserati's work, pushing him to explore the complexity of nature through a modern lens. In the 1920s, Italy experienced a period of artistic ferment in which various painters began to move away from abstraction and the experimental avant-gardes that had dominated the previous decades. These artists felt the need to return to a more faithful and comprehensible representation of reality, rediscovering the pleasure of detail and traditional technique. Influence of the Twentieth Century Group. An emblematic example of this return to realism is the movement known as Novecento Italiano, founded in Milan in 1922. This group of artists, including Mario Sironi, Achille Funi, and Carlo Carrà, aimed to create modern art rooted in classical Italian tradition. They sought to combine formal rigor and compositional order with renewed attention to everyday life and contemporary reality. The influence of this movement is also reflected in Mario Maserati's work, who shared an interest in a renewed realism and the valorization of traditional techniques. Connection with Maserati Cars...
