Powerful Altar Crucifix with Detailed Bronze Sculpture of Christ 1912
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique table crucifix and a wonderful work of religious art, dated 1912 and numbered.
For us the most powerful statement will always be 'the truth will set you free'. It is what we have learned most from the life of Christ and of His teachings and it is the one thing we always think about whenever we look at a crucifix. Anyone who has tried to break down his/her ego and found a clearer consciousness in the process knows how healing and rewarding that journey can be. After that you can only be grateful for all the good things that are bound to come your way. Good things will come your way, because the universe needs people like you. Whomever created this amazing work of religious art too must have been inspired and motivated by the life of Christ, because how ever could anyone create a piece that is of such quality, so beautiful and so powerful at the same time. Both the beautifully designed bronze cross with the King of the Jews inscription and the amazingly detailed bronze corpus of Christ are of a quality that you will only rarely find on the open market. They are perfectly mounted on a stunning marble base and together they create one of the most impressive table or altar crucifixes...

"Joy of Effort", Superb Bronze Paperweight/Medal with Nude Male Hurdlers, 1912
By R. Tait McKenzie 1
Located in Philadelphia, PA
One of the most renowned sculptures ever created by Robert Tait McKenzie, this medal depicting three nude male hurdlers represents, in miniature form, a relief created in 1912 for the facade of the Olympic stadium in Stockholm. McKenzie was, for many years, the world's leading sculptor of young athletes, and he often used student athletes at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Professor of Physical Education, as his models. He also created reliefs to celebrate the University's Relay Carnival, now known as Penn Relays, and created a medal for the Society of Medalists...

Vanderbilt Hotel Bacchus Architectural Remnant, 1912
Located in Bloomfield Hills, MI
From the 1912 Vanderbilt Hotel in New York City, Manhattan, located on Park Ave.
In the 20th century, the hotel business declined, and the Vanderbilt Hotel suffered foreclosure in 1935 during the Great Depression.
In 1966, an investment group purchased the 54-year old structure with intentions of renovating it into a dual function office and apartment building. The top 18 floors would become studio and one-bedroom apartments while the lower floors would be offices and commercial space.
“New aluminum-and-glass curtain walls are being erected to sheath the office floors, while the masonry façade of the hotel will be retained on the upper stories,” said one article. But that was just the beginning of the brutality. Penthouse apartments were being constructed on the roof, but the view was obstructed by the terracotta parapet and its massive sculptures. In June 1966 eighteen of the heads were removed, resulting in a gash in the roofline. “The heavy pieces were removed over a period of several days by a 10-man crew of the Drachman Demolition Company,” said The New York Times, “which used jack...
