Erickson Glassworks Controlled Bubble Vase Bookends Mid-Century Modern
By Erickson Glassworks 1
Located in Topeka, KS
Wonderful pair of Mid-Century Modern controlled bubble blown art glass bookend vases designed by Carl Erickson for Erickson Glassworks. This pair is in tremendously good condition with no chips, cracks, or chiggers, circa 1950s. These can be vases, or they can be bookends. This handsome pair are both unique and interesting while serving a double purpose. They have a bulbous shape with one flat side and feature Erickson’s trademark of controlled bubble or bullicante style. We can’t decide if these are gray or dark green. Designed in the 1950s by Carl Erickson for his company Erickson Glassworks of Bremen, Ohio, which was established in 1943 and produced beautiful and noteworthy art glass until 1961 when it closed its doors. Carl Erickson and his brother, Stephen, are descendants of master glass blowers and immigrated together from Sweden to the United States where they purchased a defunct glass factory to form their own business. Prior to founding Erickson Glassworks Carl learned his trade at Pairpoint Manufacturing Company for 20 years. From there he had brief stints at Libby Glass...
