Handsome vintage Modern black leather 6-piece modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta Contract. It retains its original tags. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all of the leather has been cleaned & reconditioned but there is a small poke or indention (not a hole) on one back, a couple of seats have some crazing in the leather, & the leather shows signs of age-related use in places. That’s right!!!!! This is a wonderful black leather modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta Contract composed of 6 pieces including 2 wedges and 4 straight pieces. It was originally designed in 1973 by John Mascheroni where it won “Best New Seating” design… and after you experience its luscious leather foam filled cushions and low profile, ergonomically pleasing composition… it’s EASY to see how it won that award!!! And talk about versatility OVERLOAD!!! It is VERY modular. John Mascheroni was born in 1932 and has been designing furniture since he began his working career. He studied Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and he worked at his father’s furniture factory where he learned to create reproductions of European antiques. Eventually he opened his own design practice with a showroom in New York’s elite D & D Building. He had many influences over the years including Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Mies van der Rohe, & Jean-Michel Frank but stated that he was most influenced by Charles & Ray Eames & George Nelson and their awareness of the human body and the ability to design furnishings ergonomically appropriate. We have two straight pieces wearing their original forest green fabric, black plastic ribbed bases, and their tags are dated 1987. Deep back pockets allow for convenient cleaning and comfortable airflow and they’re so versatile! They will work wonderfully bumped together as a settee or on their own as slipper chairs. 26 handsome modern modular seating and back pieces by Charlotte Chair Co. These sections can be configured as sofas and chairs or used as just ottomans or benches. They are in fabulous vintage condition. We have had them professionally cleaned and they could be used as is, but the fabric is original, and of a vintage contemporary design, so you may wish to reupholster. We have priced them accordingly. Please see photos. We have priced these for all twenty-six pieces but will entertain splitting them, circa 1970 and 1980. Note: The sections can fasten together with the provided brackets and straps for stability. Please see photos for example. What is, at the same time, a sofa, a chair, a bench, and an ottoman? These! They wear their original pastel cream, blue, and blush modern nubby fabric which we have professionally cleaned and really is kind of cool and retro.
