This original oil painting on canvas measures 60 inches high by 48 inches wide. In his distinct abstract expressionist style, Acetelli uses a captivating blend of color and form to create an ethereal scene filled with serenity and introspection. The artwork is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted black and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front of the artwork and titled on the back. Mark Acetelli was born in Detroit into an artistic household. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist.
Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed.
Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. Acetelli's mastery of abstraction is evident in his use of color and form to evoke emotion and atmosphere. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Bernhard Zimmer produces deeply layered, subtly textured abstract paintings that contain diametrically opposed elements—order and chaos, abstraction and representation, boldness and subtlety—in exquisite tension. Working with oil and mixed media on canvas, he paints in color fields of soft shapes and delicate lines. Grids of diaphanous faces and blocks of illegible text emerge in rich washes of color. Like reliefs, his compositions are built up from numerous layers of material and mark-making. Their surfaces shift with the light and the changing position of the viewer. Full of strength and fragility, Zimmer’s works reward patient viewing, revealing their rich visual nuances to those who take time to delve into their layers.
This 43 inch high by 35 inch wide original artwork is created with many layers of mixed media and oil on canvas. This painting is wired and ready to hang. Whether figurative or abstract, Zimmer’s artworks inherently alter the feeling of a space. One is absorbed in contemplation as perfectly layered colors and etched hieroglyphic text vibrate from within. Zimmer’s work oscillates between the Geometric Abstraction of Josef Albers and the sublimely layered color fields of Mark Rothko; with added figures that seem to be composed of shadows. This tension between form, color, and text creates canvases with glowing compositions that reverberate with emotion.
Bernhard Zimmer was born in 1957 in Stuttgart, Germany. From 1978 to 1984, he completed his education in Cultural Studies at Hildesheim. Zimmer continues to live and work in Cologne. He has exhibited in Hanover, Munich, Dusseldorf, Basel, Gent, Hong Kong, and Singapore to name a few. Zimmer has created a positive stir at major international art fairs such as Art Basel and Kunst Köln. His mysterious compositions pique the taste of the serious art collector.
