Born in England in 1962, Janette Dye's artistic journey was shaped by the contrasts and movements of her upbringing in a quaint village near the industrial city of Manchester. Early on, she received guidance from the renowned English painter, Harold Riley, igniting her lifelong passion for art. Later, the works of Riley's mentor, L.S. Lowry, resonated deeply with Dye, reflecting the strained moods of Northern factories and their laborers—a subject intimately connected to her family history. Inspired by Lowry's ability to capture overpowering emotions through strong stylized forms, Dye delved into abstract art, discovering a profound connection between her art and everyday life.

He left Turkey at age nine with his family and spent a year in Padua, Italy, waiting for his visa to open to the United States. This period was very important in his life because his father took him to many cities in Europe and exposed him to great works of art. Zorthian arrived in the United States at the age of eleven and settled with his family in New Haven, Connecticut. He obtained his formal education there, after graduating from Yale in 1932, the Winchester Fellowship granted him a year and a half at the American Academy in Rome with travel and study throughout Europe.
His art career branched into various directions on his return to the United States. As a mural painter his reputation was established. He has forty two (42) murals throughout the United States. The painting was inspired by feelings of loneliness and social distancing during the pandemic. The canvas is made to look like a cracked mirror with a jester in a red hat on the other side. The cracks spread from where the jester touched it with his wine glass. Life in the painting seems to be broken into many tiny pieces, where the central character is reflected holding his guitar, the only thing remaining after all love was drained out of his life. Quarantine reminds the viewer to cherish life in its fullness and the people that are dear to them. The painting is signed by the author and can be framed or unframed. It can decorate any corner of the room based on individual preference.
