A most impressive authentic antique architectural salvage hand carved gessoed and gilded solid wood spiral turned classical Ionic order column, with lavishly decorated shaft wrapped in trailing foliage relief carvings, topped with an integral capital with scroll volutes. France, 19th century, luxurious Baroque taste, almost certainly commissioned for and originally part of a Catholic church, this repurposed building element now mounted on a substantial white painted domed cylindrical base and fashioned into a highly decorative sculptural object / display pedestal / torchiere candle stand or potentially mounted as an electrified floor lamp / jardiniere plant stand or whatever else you can imagine!
