American Robins and Fall Foliage, Original Painting
By Suren Nersisyan
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Two robins face each other, a colorful display of red, yellow and orange oak leaves frame the scene. "Inspired by traditional Asian watercolor compositions and Western European painting technique, I created this composition to illustrate the harmony in nature between birds and flowers," says Suren. Part of his ongoing Birds and Flowers series.

About the Artist
Suren is an impressionist painter eloquently capturing nature, landscapes, and cityscapes in paint. His body of work reflects several different stylistic approaches. Suren’s scenes in oil are inspired by Impressionist masters Monet and Van Gogh, while his watercolor series of flowers and birds are influenced by Eastern styles of painting and the colors of the Middle Eastern environment. Suren believes his role as an artist is to remind viewers that we all are part of the same natural universe.

Large 4-Foot Acrylic on Canvas Realist Landscape by Tom Perkinson, Framed
By Tom Perkinson
Located in Encino, CA
Untitled Landscape is an original acrylic painting on canvas by Tom Perkinson. His use of saturated violets, vivid yellows, and resplendent oranges pushes color to almost-otherworldly realms. The viewer is invited to step into the painting to explore the scene within and imagine gazing at an easel of a plein-air painter with the water-filled sky and saturated ground in full view. Here, Perkinson chose to depict the beauty and calm of the rain, with an expansive view of a lush landscape. Women are holding umbrellas in the middle ground with their young children enjoying the feeling of rain drops. A pond just creeps into view from the right and the edge of town can be seen in the distance, just over the trees. Perkinson describes his style of painting as "Romantic Realism," a technique that incorporates two iconic art movements. This style, in combination with the imagination of the artist, produces remarkable results, showcasing Perkinson's keen ability to capture emotion, nature, and life - all in a brushstroke. Both his technical talent and choice of subject matter pair perfectly with its carved, custom, antique-finish, gilt frame. This masterful work would make a great addition to an art collection and enhance most any home, perfect for those who have an affinity for landscapes, impressionism, romanticism, realism, plein-air painting, and nature. In the artist’s own words: “My color combinations aren’t in the realm of the natural world, because I don’t paint reality; I’m a painter of fiction. I try to paint a sense of place, as though this scene really does exist. I have had my collectors ask me where this scene is, and I just have to point to my head and say I made it up. Thus, I think of my work as romantic realism. I’m painting a certain reality that I’ve invented, inspired by the fascinatingly rich Southwestern landscape.” “Color gets all the credit, but it’s the values that do all the work. I don’t begin with sketches, because I want to be free to follow the painting in any direction. I start with washes of different values and tints. Then, I begin to look for a landscape. Several directions will appear to me at this time, and then I have to decide on one of them. During these first few moments, I must establish my distance from the scene. Am I a mile away or just across the river? This is one of the first steps, and I have to decide before I can continue. It’s important for working out the perspective and how things are going to relate to one another in the picture. Then, as the landscape evolves, I look for more images to add to the composition.” Artist: TOM PERKINSON (1940-) Title: UNTITLED LANDSCAPE Medium & Surface: ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS (framed) Signed: HAND SIGNED AND DATED BY ARTIST LOWER RIGHT Year Created: 1983 Country of Creation: UNITED STATES Image Area Dimensions: 24 x 40 INCHES Frame Dimensions:* 28.5 x 44.75 x 1 INCHES *This work of art is being sold framed. Artist Info/Bio: ARTIST BIOGRAPHY DOCUMENT IS INCLUDED Documentation: CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY IS INCLUDED About the Artist: Tom Perkinson, born in Indiana in 1940, has become distinguished as a regional painter, known for his work grounded in the visually dramatic landscape of the Southwest. As a child, Perkinson discovered he had a love for the natural landscape, and a talent for art. He fostered that talent through classes at the John Herron Institute of Art in Indianapolis, and then at the Chicago Art Academy upon graduating from high school. He received a degree in art from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1964, before moving on to graduate school at the University of New Mexico. Here, among noted works of a larger scale, he continued to paint the landscape, and it was this work that began to reflect a new fascination with the Southwest. He had found what would become an infinite source of inspiration. Influenced by early painters of the southern Indiana landscape...

"Being There" Original Oil Painting by Robert White, Frameless Display
Located in Encino, CA
“Being There,” an original oil on canvas by Robert K. White, is a piece for the true collector. White’s careful attention to detail and vivid use of browns and reds project from the painting, immediately capturing the viewer's attention and highlighting the artist's keen ability to capture emotion and life - all in a brushstroke. White's talent for depicting light and shadow provides the foundation for him to deliver subjects and scenes to the viewer's eye. This masterful work would make a great addition to an art collection and enhance most any home, perfect for those who have an affinity for cityscapes, theater, and architecture. In the artist’s own words, “I don’t paint what is inside of me; I paint what I see outside of me. I’m an observer. If I see something and I feel an affinity for it, something just clicks in my head. I’ll make the decision right then and there to paint that particular subject during that particular moment. It’s a perfect moment. Once something has caught my eye and I’ve heard the “perfect” click, it’s like a photograph has been taken in my mind’s eye. I only have a few days of clarity with that image. I have to start the painting quickly or else it will be gone and I will lose that image forever.” Artist: ROBERT KENNETH WHITE...

City Bird, Original Painting
By Catherine McCargar
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
"Seagulls are often depicted from a distance in paintings, flapping in the sky, or gathered on a shore," says artist Catherine McCargar. In this piece, Catherine delightfully takes an up-close and personal look at this avian friend. She channels the familiar bird surveying the Pacific Coast off the shores of San Francisco where she lives. Her skillful watercolor technique brings a relaxed quality to this maritime composition.

About the Artist
Impressionist Catherine McCargar expresses her deep admiration of nature through landscape paintings of Northern California. While she is well-versed in a range of media, her preferred medium for painting is watercolor. The fluidity of the paint allows her to capture the muted undertones and the fleeting light found in the natural world. While the backgrounds of her paintings are impressionistic, the foregrounds of her paintings are often highly detailed, showcasing her technical mastery over her medium.

Chorus (Large Vertical Drawing on Paper of Blue, Red, Black Birds, Framed)
Located in Hudson, NY
Large vertical chalk on paper drawing of blue, red, grey and black birds chalk on four vintage collaged music sheets Artwork measures 78 x 25 inches, 83.5 x 30 inches framed, deckle edge paper is floated in natural wood moulding with glass. This contemporary graphic chalk drawing on collaged vintage music sheets was made by Louise Laplante in 2016. The delicate yet vivid silhouettes of birds are stenciled onto the vintage music sheets with red, blue, navy, and black chalk. The birds extend vertically up the paper, as if they were singing in a flock. In some segments the stenciled birds are delicately brushed over with a thin wisp of chalk. The work is complimented with a modern natural wood frame. Whimsical composition, gorgeous neutral palette, and uplifting imagery! About the artist: Mixed media artist, Louise Laplante, will exhibit new drawings on collaged pages of of vintage paper. Interested in blending the old world with the new, Laplante combines her original images with ephemera of the past, enticing a conversation about it’s “relevancy to the present.” Her compositions begin with vintage book pages, personal handwritten letters, sheet music, or instruction from old guides on etiquette or science. While the text itself is weighted with reference to a particular subject, the visual of the typed or handwritten words and printed illustrations establish a unique pattern. These layered backgrounds are superimposed with opaque charcoal drawings that are inspired by the themes read between the lines. Most recently, the artist has opted for larger scale work, combining multiple sheets of vintage paper to expand her unique motifs. In the six and a half foot tall work, “Chorus”, a flock of multi-colored birds are stenciled on collaged sheets of handwritten music. They gravitate in a gloriously dynamic upward movement, illustrating their song resonating in harmonious unison. Other work is decorated with groupings of blue whales, billowy clouds, or gentlemen’s hats, while some selections are riddled with personal references that are blurred with whitewash. Laplante exhibits across the Northeast and has shown with Carrie Haddad for more than ten years.
