Over the course of a career lasting half a century, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) portrayed high society, aristocracy, authors, artists, business icons, the celebrated and their milieu. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century.
The Slim Aarons Estate has released the limited Estate edition as a Digital Fiber print, a digital version of traditional darkroom process. Hybrid paper is responsive to digital laser technology. Digital Fiber provides true black and white printing, without colour cast.

Saul Leiter (1923-2013) was born in Pittsburgh to a father who was a well-respected Talmudic scholar. His passion for the arts ignited during his late teenage years, and despite being urged to follow in his father's footsteps to become a Rabbi, he chose to forgo theological studies, moving to New York at the age of 23 to delve into painting. In the city, he formed a friendship with Abstract Expressionist painter Richard Pousette-Dart, who was exploring photography. This connection, along with a subsequent friendship with W. Eugene Smith, deepened his fascination with photography. Leiter's initial black and white images reveal a remarkable talent for the art form. By the 1950s, he also began to explore color, producing a substantial and noteworthy collection during the early stages of this medium. His uniquely muted color palette often imparts a painterly essence that distinguishes his work from that of others in his era.
Leiter's inaugural showcase of color photography took place in the 1950s at the Artist's Club, a gathering spot for many Abstract Expressionists of that period. Edward Steichen included twenty-three of his black and white works in the influential 1953 exhibition "Always the Young Stranger" at the Museum of Modern Art and also showcased twenty of Leiter's color photographs during the 1957 MoMA event "Experimental Photography in Color. I was thinking that the shape and structure of the universe repeated itself at every level and suddenly I had the image in my mind of a skier going down a breast. This was it - the universe repeating its shapes - a body looking like a mountain. It was also an example of two realities coexisting. The picture could be seen as a landscape and it could also be seen as a body. Although they were different, both perceptions were right at the same time. “Meatyard searched continually for a non-objective art that would be wordless poetry, spontaneous music without sound. The ‘Motion-Sound’ pictures of his later years brought Meatyard’s passion for music and, paradoxically, the silence of Zen Buddhism together in photography. In creating the series, he focused the camera on a natural scene (or one containing plain rural architecture) and then moved it slightly. The result of this action is an image that suggests sound while abstracting natural forms. The landscapes of the ‘Motion-Sound’ series are in stark contrast to the evocative, more traditional views of the Red River Gorge that Meatyard was executing during the same years.”

About Edward Quigley:
Edward Quigley was a leading American modernist who became known in the 1930s for his experimental photographic work with light. Quigley acquired his first camera at age twelve, joined the Photographic Society of Philadelphia in1929, and opened his own studio a year later. He supported himself with innovative advertising and editorial work published regularly in magazines such as U.S. Camera and Photographie, while winning prizes in numerous salons for his experimental light abstractions, captured with the aid of prisms and lenses to startling affect. Today, photographs by Edward Quigley are housed in the permanent collections of The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
