Large Mid Century Modern Texas Artist Abstract Expressionist Action Painting
By Duanye Hatchett
Located in Buffalo, NY
An abstract expressionist painting by Duayne Hatchett . Oil on canvas, circa 1990. Signed verso. Framed. Image size, 60"H x 55"L. Duayne Hatchett was a visual artist whose work included prints, paintings, sculpture, and found objects. He was born on May 12, 1925 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the Air Force where he trained to become a fighter pilot. After leaving the militrary he studied design at the University of Oklahoma. His highly technical military training combined a mathematical intelligence with a love for physics and a daring embrace of new experience, all of which would soon be the tools for his evolution through art. Two major influences interacted on his early development at OU. Emelio Omero, a colleague and close friend of Diego Rivera, introduced him to the revolutionary art ideas of Mexico City, while teaching him a wide range of printing techniques that would culminate in a Masters Degree in Painting in 1952. During this time he met Bruce Goff, a renowned Wright disciple, who was teaching architecture at OU and befriended Hatchett, introducing him to the most avant-garde architecture of that time. He spent his summers while at OU designing for a small sign shop, which introduced him to new materials used for building neon, plastic, and metal signs. The use of new materials and a keen sense for design would soon become invaluable building blocks for future sculpture. During this time he met and married Mary Ellen Jeffries. They would spend their lives together and raise three children, David (me), my brother Dana, and my sister Jeffri. As children, they were immersed in art from childhood and benefited greatly from this loving art and domestic environment. Hatchett was always interested in the techniques of construction, often watching different tradesmen working, understanding how materials are put together to create the manmade environment that surrounded him. While teaching printmaking at Oklahoma City University from 1951 through ‘54, he began to build sculpture employing some of the materials and techniques that he saw workers using. He was beginning to draw the attention of architects and he became interested in their work-trade processes, moving from blue prints to construction. He accepted an invitation from Alexander Hogue...

Vesta
By Mark Zimmermann
Located in East Quogue, NY
Turquoise abstract painting - Acrylic and graphite on canvas in artist frame. Signed on back by the artist. Mark Zimmermann's work is based on the fusion of meditative fields, architectonic structures and an organic gestural line that is one-part intentional and one-part accidental. Zimmermann clearly demonstrates his deftness of hand though labored bands of color, building and editing one band upon other, until the editing process renders compositions that combine both hard-edge and action-painting abstraction. In discussing this work, the editor and writer, Larry Qualls noted,“...a majestic landscape...

Minimalist Abstract Color Field Painting in Pastel Green, Whites and Blue(C13-3)
By Ginny Fox
Located in Hudson, NY
Nature-Inspired Minimalist Abstract Color Field painting on three wood panels in shades of Light Green and Blues Acrylic on 3 panels (2 panels are 24 x 18 x 2 inches each, center panel is 24 x 6 x 2 inches) Overall measurement for horizontal install with 1-2 inch recommended spacing, 24" X 43" X 2" inches horizontally Artist Ginny Fox achieves multiple flawless layers of acrylic paint, wiping it on and off with cotton cloth, to create a subtle yet distinctive woven texture on a smooth surface. The artist's work is inspired by patterns found in nature such as tree rings, rock lines, ethereal horizons, or water ripples. It appears as though a light source is originating behind the panel, glowing softly in a pale, dreamy green palette. This unique surface spreads all the way to the very edge of each panel with its delicate, cross hatched motif. The 2 inch deep sides are cleanly painted white for a seamless finish. These panels hang flush to the wall by resting on two nails on either side of the panel, and can be arranged in any number of ways, highlighting the work's sculptural element. Artist's Statement: My paintings merge the detailed textures and colors found in the natural world with the linear and geometric patterns visible in industrial and architectural structures. The interplay of these elements drives the work and provides a platform for constant change and narrative. By simultaneously layering and removing paint with rags instead of brushes, my hand is directly involved with the process. Each piece contains multiple panels that evoke a nuanced and evolving universe. Ginny Fox builds up each non-representational piece with overlapping streaks of paint that frequently span two or three panels. Working with rags instead of brushes, Fox’s hand moves along parallel paths, emergent colors cascading gently towards the edges of the composition's plane. There’s something vaporous to the outer layers of the work, the interwoven strands of color offering glimpses at the painting’s earthy base and hinting at the artist’s gradual process. Having received her education from New York University in the 1970s, Fox has since exhibited throughout the United States, especially in New York City and the northeastern U.S. RESUME Solo Exhibits 2019 Winterscape Soho20 Bushwick, New York 2017 Perpetual Earth Soho20 Bushwick, New York 2015 Intimate Universe Soho20 Chelsea New York...

October (Grid and Flower), Original Patterned Foliage Painting
Located in Boston, MA
October (Grid and Flower) 30.0 x 22.5 x 0.03, 0.34 lbs Handmade paper, mixed media Hand signed by artist Artist's Commentary: "Gouache, tempera, and colored pencil on paper From the October Series This series consists of works on paper that I made last October while I was in residence at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina. It was a beautiful time of year and of course I was inspired by the foliage and the leaf color transformation in particular. These drawings/paintings are layered color pencil and paint and there are many layers . These pieces are nature-landscape inspired and the colors create a contrast of vivid pigment with the frosted effect of the paint that is reminiscent of fog in early mornings with the vivid changing colors of the trees." About the Artist: Hollie Heller is a multifaceted artist who divides her time between New York City and Costa Rica. Her masterful works are largely inspired by materials collected on her travels. Heller’s knowledge of design, textiles and weaving allow her to make the most of the materials she finds. Although steeped in said traditional methods of making, she is constantly experimenting and testing the limits of ordinary materials. Heller has been teaching surface design and collage for over twenty years, her students provide a wealth of inspiration for her. Her work is included in many corporate and private collections: Hyatt Hotels in San Antonio, TX, Sarasota, FL, Philadelphia PA, Sedona, AZ; Hilton Hotel in Nashville, TN, Doubletree Hotel in Chicago, IL, Southpark Suites in Charlotte, NC, Westin Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA, Mohegan Sun Casino, CT, Omni Hotels in Atlanta, GA and Orlando FL...
