Portrait Of A Young Girl In A Lilac Dress With A Black Bow. Circa 1860. SIgned.
Located in Firenze, IT
Portrait of a young girl in a lilac dress with a black bow. Circa 1860. Signature below right, partially visible. Size with frame 59cm x 49cm Size without frame 33cm x 24cm The portrait depicts a young girl with an elegant hairstyle, her hair carefully tied back. Dressed in the fashion of the 1860s, her light lilac dress reflects the synthetic aniline colors, a novelty in fashion at the time. A black bow at the neck and slightly black straps accentuate her attire. Represented at mid-length, with a mysterious and melancholic gaze, suggesting a mourning endured over a year ago. The portrait, executed in pastels, chalks, and charcoals on paper, highlights the mastery and speed of the artist's execution. Framed in a vintage oval frame...

Eyes, by Alberto Giacometti, Lithograph Print
By Alberto Giacometti
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This framed 22.25" x 18.25" lithograph print on paper by artist Alberto Giacometti features the piercing eyes from a partially obscured face. His emphasis on the gestural drawing of the right eye is particularly haunting. The print is signed in the plate. The publisher is Giulio Einaudi - Turin, Italy. The work has a linen mat under glass and is in a silver frame. The art measures 8.25"x10.25. Provenance - The piece is from the estate of Laura Odell, (1922-2021), a Manhattan, NY Interior designer. Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) was a Swiss born sculpture, painter, and printmaker. One of the foremost sculptures of the 20th century, Giacometti was heavily influenced by Cubism and Surrealism. He moved to Paris in 1922 forming relationships alongside Miró, Picasso, and Max Ernst. By the 1940's Giacometti had shifted his focus almost exclusively to sculpting the human head, often using his sister artist Isabel Rawsthrone as a model. During WWII he found refuge in Switzerland and met a Red Cross nurse...

Run DMC
By Tim Hearne
Located in Tulsa, OK
Artist Statement: I initially began this series as part of a hip-hop related call for entries. At the time I had just begun re-exploring my art and was focused on pencil portraits. I decided to continue them using different subjects with no real timeline as there are plenty of subjects to use. My goal was to convey a more simplified view of the subjects in question while also adding a stark and stylized aspect to the drawings. I am a fan of blank space so I initially knew I wanted empty backgrounds. The first portrait “Notorious” initially started out as a full chest-up drawing, but once I finished the head I was really intrigued by the look of it sitting in space on all sides. This composition all gave a very somber look to the portrait, which I believed was fitting considering the events of Christopher Wallace...
