Japanese Cotton Curtains Noren Maruni Sasarindo 1960s
Located in Paris, FR
This is a Japanese curtain which was made in Japan around 1960s. It is called Noren. This noren has a family crest (kamon) in the middle. This type of Kamon is called Maruni Sasa Rindo. This noren is with cotton and starts losing a color because of sun but it is in good condition for its age. The color is beautiful. Noren: Noren are fabric dividers hung in doorways, across windows, on walls or between rooms. They take many shapes and sizes and are made using a multitude of different colors, patterns and materials. Florentine Renaissance Cassone with decor of vines and grape clusters
Located in Saint-Ouen, FR
ORIGIN : ITALY, TUSCANY PERIOD : 16th CENTURY DIMENSIONS : Height : 73 cm Length : 180 cm Depth: 57 cm Good condition Walnut wood This significant Florentine cassone in the shape of a sarcophagus features a beautiful front panel flanked at the corners by two mascarons surrounded by voluted acanthus leaves. It rests on two lion's paw feet at the front. The decoration includes a beautiful frieze of scales at the bottom, which continues on the sides. Above this, in the center, a scrollwork cartouche once bore coats of arms. On either side, there is an abundant vegetal decor with vine branches and sumptuous grape clusters. The domed top lid is adorned around its edge with a wide frieze featuring a scale motif, harmoniously matching the lower cornice. This beautiful cassone is interesting for several reasons. The choice of ornamentation is not random. Grapes have numerous meanings and are often associated with fertility, especially when represented on a wedding cassone...

Rope Lamp by Audoux Minnet, 1960 s
By Adrien Audoux and Frida Minnet
Located in PARIS, FR
The absence of an Audoux-Minnet catalog means that we have only partial knowledge of their production. We do know, however, that it was certainly during their honeymoon that Adrien Audoux, originally from Franche-Comté, and Frida Minnet, originally from Switzerland, decided to set up their business in Cannes in 1929. Frida Minnet's father was himself a rattan furniture manufacturer in Montreux, where his store was located. He was invaluable in helping the young couple set up shop, producing mainly rattan furniture. In 1942, the company moved to Golfe-Juan, not far from Vallauris, where Jean Bonaudi also produced rattan furniture. Here, customers from La Rievera, made up of wealthy Britons and Americans attracted by "French taste", bought their furniture. In the '50s, the company, better known as "le Doux Minet" and taking a black kitten as its symbol, invented a new style of furniture that would make their reputation. The frame, often in oak or beech, is entirely covered in raffia. The seats are then covered with raffia made of checkerboard or coarse-mesh braided mats. Audoux-Minnet's flagship armchair, whose beech legs form a single unit with the armrests, was manufactured by the Vibo company in Vesoul. Audoux-Minnet furniture bears an oblong plate...

Pair of Neo-Pompeian Gueridons Malachite top , by H. Picard, France, c. 1865
By Henri Picard
Located in PARIS, FR
A similar model was exhibited at the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition. Rare pair of round table made of patinated and gilded bronze with a top veneered with malachite and circled with bronze mounts adorned with ovum and beads. They stands on three patinated bronze feet with lion heads and paws, linked with gilded bronze X braces. Related Works: The feet of these gueridons adopt a sleek design and are adorned with claws and lion heads. Inspired by a well-known model in the Barbedienne Company production and it has been reused many times by his workshop. These gueridons shows how the Barbedienne Company offered a range of furniture from the designs of its decorator Louis-Constant Sévin. He designed this model of gueridon few time after he joined the Barbedienne Company in 1855 and this model can be seen on different interior decorations of the Second Empire. A tripod gueridon with feet like these ones can be seen on a picture showing the cold room of the Pompeiian house built for Prince Napoleon. (see picture attached, photograph by Laplanche J et Cie, between 1860-1866, Musée Carnavalet, Paris, PH15305). Most of the Ancient style furniture was made by Charles Rossigneux (1818-1908) but this gueridon shows that the Barbedienne Company took also part to this work. Biography: Henri Picard was established in Paris, 6 rue Jarente from 1831 to 1839 and then 10 rue de la Perle from 1840 to 1864. He worked on the Emperor Napoleon III’s apartments gilding at the Louvre Palace. His production was in a rich and fine style, like a Japanese style inkwell, or his Pompeian style dining table centerpieces...
