Both George Brehm and his younger brother Worth, had the ability to illustrate stories about children, particularly boys, sympathetically and convincingly. Perhaps this insight developed from their small-town Hoosier upbringing.
George studied at the Art Students League in New York with Twachtman, DuMond, and Bridgman, but did his first illustration for the Reader’s Magazine, published by the Bobbs-Merrill Company near his home in Indianapolis. On the strength of this work, he obtained an assignment from The Delineator in New York, and his career was launched. While growing up, Ron Lesser was recognized for his artistic potential. He was admitted into New York's High School of Music and Art and later the Pratt Institute of Art and the Art Students League, studying under the influential teacher, Frank J. Reilly.
Drawing on his extensive fine art background, and inspired by the great classical painters such as N.C. Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, Tom Lovell and others, Ron focuses on historical paintings of high visual impact and strong characterizations. He creates paintings inspired by his fascination of the culture and environment of his subject matter. These paintings bring back the important and often exciting moments that existed in the 19th century. While giving attention to detail, a devotion to strong and dramatic compositions coupled with a unique creative vision sets a Ron Lesser painting apart. This overall impact transports the viewer to another time and place. "I'm trying to tell a story. I like people to look at one of my paintings and feel like they could step into the scene."

Biography:
Daniel Content was born of Dutch parents and grew up in New York City. He attended New Eutriek High School in Brooklyn, NY. He studied under Dean Cornwell at the Pratt Institute as well as attending the Art Students League. Mr. Content worked as a freelance artist for about thirty years. He illustrated for such magazines as Colliers, Cosmopolitan, Readers Digest, and McCall's. In 1928 he illustrated the Windermere Series printing of Robin Hood. During World War II he traveled with the USO to Burma and India entertaining the service men with personal sketches. In the late 1950s he was an Art Director for Benton & Bowles in NYC. He also taught at the workshop School of Advertising Art. Mr. Content continued his sculpting and painting long after retirement. Some of his work can be found at Society of Illustrators in their permanent Museum.
