In the south of France, the Christmas tradition is to bake a ‘Kings' Cake’ in January to celebrate the three wise men’s arrival at the Nativity. A Fève figure, the word for bean in French, is baked in the cake. The person who receives the slice of cake with the figurine is crowned king or queen. In earlier times, a single Fève was used. Later the tradition changed to include a collectible little figurine.
Families collect the fèves over the years, using the figures to build a miniature nativity Crèche...
