A beautiful set of two rare club ArmChairs by Mario Bellini, model 415 "Cab" out of production in incredibly thick patinated buffalo leather, by Cassina (signed), designed in the 1970s and in stunning conditions. These first examples of production were produced around the years' 80. These fine examples of Mario Bellini's line of booths for Cassina are a classic for luxury interior designers and collectors alike, these large, heavy variations of the club chair design are much larger and deeper than the No. 414 similar model and much more larger than model # 413 dining chair design variation. These club chairs are made of thick buffalo leather instead of standard cowhide. Signed underneath with Cassina embossed on the leather. Rare set ideal for an art / design collector, investor or luxury interior designer client ... this is a discontinued collectible designer set with original buffalo leather. The heavy patina leather leathers have a nice patina that gives a soft and casual look not found in new production items. Mario Bellini described the best-selling design of the 1970s for the Cab collection as "This was a new type of chair, built entirely in leather, much cloned ever since". and is now a characteristic piece of Cassina's Contemporanei collection. Cab was the first chair ever to feature a self-supporting leather frame, inspired by the way our skin fits our skeleton. The upholstery is made up of sixteen pieces of leather. They are then subjected to fourteen discrete procedures, always by hand. The pieces are only sewn together when the outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit.
