"Attributed Gilbert Poillerat"
There have been many important French designers associated with Art Deco and through the 1930’s, ’40’s and beyond who worked in wrought iron. One usually thinks of Edgar Brandt, Raymond Subes, and Paul Kiss. For quite a while, when Art Deco was enjoying its first flush of recognition in the 1970’s, Gilbert Poillerat remained relatively unknown. This would soon change as the natural progression of design exploration began to move into the 1930’s and beyond, and Poillerat would emerge as one of the most original and important designers of his time.
Gilbert Poillerat was born in 1902 in a small town in France that, oddly, had three names – Mer, Loir et Cher. Like many other furniture designers, he attended the famed École Boulle, where he trained as a metal chiseler and engraver, graduating in 1921.
Following his graduation, he worked with arguably the best and most influential wrought-iron master – Edgar Brandt. He worked for Brandt for over seven years in both design and production. There can be no doubt that this time was hugely important, not only in furthering his training and perfecting his technique, but also exposing him to the new ideas that had blossomed forth during the Art Deco movement, when wrought-iron escaped the constraints of tradition that had kept it static for so long.
In 1927, Poillerat left Brandt, and began working for Baudet, Donon and Roussel, a firm specializing in construction frameworks. He was placed in charge of their decorative iron-work division, which produced tables...

WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik)
Electro- Wurtemberg Plate Company in Geislingen, Germany, internationally known today as 'WMF' initials of the company Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik was founded in 1853 with 16 workers. Under the direction of Albert Mayer was influenced by Art Nouveau style. In 1914, opening factories in Germany, Poland and Austria. The origins of the firm WMF were modest, and is a lasting tribute to the vision of Daniel Straub. The first catalogs appeared in 1856-1859. The products were made of silver metal and glass among his works are candle holders, planters, punch bowls, card, flower, fruit and cutlery among others. The company was honored with several awards and international success, heralded a period of further expansion. The German Emperor Wilhelm II presented a small museum at Harvard University. In 1905, WMF acquired a majority stake in the company that manufactures Orivit AG under the name "Orivit".

Keramos was a prominent Austrian ceramic manufacturer, based in Vienna. It was an initiative of three ceramists, Rudolf Wolf, Heinrich Wolf, and Ludwig Rys, who started the company in 1920.
The company specialized in artistic ceramics, producing lamps, figures, vases, boxes, and bowls.
They were known for their Art Deco figures of dancers, elegant women, and animals, with a characteristic style that combined grace and dynamism. Artists like Rudolf Podany and Stefan Dakon (who also worked for Goldscheider) designed many of their pieces.
Throughout its history, spanning over 60 years, Keramos produced around 3000 model designs, created by approximately 60 ceramists.
It participated in numerous exhibitions in Austria and internationally, winning awards (for example, a silver medal at the Paris Art Exhibition in 1925).
