Scandinavian Modern Art Glass Vase by Börne Augustsson for Åseda
By Aseda
Located in Grythyttan, SE
Börne Augustsson's artistry shines through in this Swedish Modern glass vase created for Åseda Glassworks. Meticulously hand-blown, this Scandinavian Modern piece showcases Augustsson's organic design sensibilities. The vase features a striking violet, so dark that it appears to be black, casing beneath a transparent layer, with the latter expertly treated to create captivating organic pulled shapes. Notably, this vase bears an engraving underneath: "Fa W Johansson Orrefors 25." Despite this marking, it was indeed designed and crafted by Börne Augustsson for Åseda Glassworks. Mid-century Modern Fat Lava Red and Brown Stoneware Vase by Scheurich, W Germany
By Scheurich Keramik
Located in Grythyttan, SE
This fat lava stoneware vase from Scheurich, is a striking example of mid-century modern 1960s West German pottery, captures the bold spirit of the era. This particular piece, model 203-18, stands 18 cm tall, with a mouth opening diameter of 6 cm and a bottom base diameter of 10 cm. Its glaze is nothing short of mesmerizing, featuring an extraordinary blend of colors. Predominantly brown, dark brown, and light brown, the vase also boasts a bright red stripe running through its center. This vibrant red band is the highlight, drawing attention and adding a dynamic contrast to the earthy tones. The colors on this vase are truly stunning, with the dark brown glaze setting off the bright red central band beautifully. This combination of hues is characteristic of the fat lava style, known for its thick, lava-like glazes and vivid color palettes. The vase is in very good condition, maintaining its charm and authenticity over the years. Underneath, it is marked with "203-18 W. GERMANY," affirming its origin and craftsmanship. ABOUT SCHEURICH Scheurich was established by Alois Scheurich and Fridolin Greulich for glass and porcelain in 1928. In 1954 Scheurich KG Keramikfabrik commences production of ceramics with the first electrical tunnel kiln. Animal figures with built-in clocks were highly popular gift and decoration articles in the 1950s. A fat lava vase is a "must-have" element of mid-century design, and this Scheurich piece is no exception. Its vibrant colors and intricate design make it a standout item for any collector or enthusiast of vintage West German pottery...
