For your consideration is this excellent condition Art Deco ladies combination compact dating to 1928. This is a classic Art Deco Richard Hudnut Le Debut Cloisonné Powder, Rouge and Mirror Compact and is an absolute delight in every aspect and genuinely has appears never to have been used.
This compact features a black enamel lid with cream dotted accents; the back of the compact has a spider web machine-tooled finish to accent the octagonal shape of the compact. The case opens to a rouge compartment with a mirror in the lid that is behind a gold toned Art Deco decorated cover. The loose powder compartment is in the lower section of the compact; and it has a hinged and latched recessed door to hold a puff. This feature was a later addition to the initial solid powder product release of 1924 and has the patent date stamped on the underside of the hinged door reflecting an issue date of 1928. The original rouge is in untouched condition and still shows the embossed name Le Debut while the loose powder well is empty. Inside it is hallmarked "Le Debut", "Richard Hudnut" on the Art Deco mirror frame...

A very stylish and unusual glazed ceramic handled vase by renowned Italian artist Marcello Fantoni (1915-2011). The rounded bottle shaped vase has a tall funnel neck with a large rounded loop handle attached to one side. The cream coloured body is decorated with run glazes in blue and yellow over a lightly textured purple ground. The vase is signed Fantoni to the base.
Marcello Fantoni was born in Florence in 1915 and studied an Art of Ceramics course at the Institute of Art at Porta Romana from where he graduated as a 'maestro' of art in 1934. In 1936 he established the Fantoni Ceramic studio and produced many unique pieces which quickly found him fame and recognition. His success continued and today his work is represented around the world in all the leading art institutions including among them the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, Victoria and Albert Museum of London, Museum of Modern Art of Tokyo and Kyoto. Two Early 19th Century French Empire Gilt Bronze Candelabra

These magnificent candelabra were cast entirely of gilt bronze in the French Empire period of the early 19th century. Each candelabrum is formed as a cornucopia of scrolled branches holding four lights with drip pans, set on a single torch-form stem, held aloft by a Classical style figure.
The figures, one male and one female, are shown draped in swathed clothing, with the male figure depicted holding a quill in his other hand, whilst the female figure clutches a delicate bouquet of flowers. The figures stand upon circular bases, set onto ovoid vases which featured fluted details and central bands of laurel leaf motifs. The vases themselves stand on undulating roundels formed of acanthus leaves, which are further set atop square-form plinths.
Classically influenced works were popular during the French Empire period, when the Emperor Napoleon I sought to create a place in history for France alongside the ancient dynasties...
