This review was founded in 1897 in the continuity of the review Les Beaux-Arts published between 1861 and 1865; Jules Comte, the founder, entitled his first issue Les Beaux-Arts - Revue nouvelle then changed the title to La Revue de l'art ancien et moderne. Jules Comte directed the review until his death in 1912. Raymond Woog took over , who was provisional director until the start of the war in July 1914. In 1919, André Dezarrois took over this review and was its director until December 1937, date of last issue (published in January 1938). In the meantime, it publishes the Bulletin of ancient and modern art, which has gained a certain notoriety in the community.
Biography:
Tony Minartz, pseudonym of Antoine Guillaume, born 8 April 1873 to Cannes and died in that city on 13 December 1944 Is a painter, draftsman , illustrator and engraver French.
Painter autodidact , Tony Minartz starts to become known in 1896 by exhibiting paintings at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts , and then decorates the Pompadour theater of painted panels for fashion shows " Grand Guignol ", directed by L. Darthenay. In 1903, Henri Béraldi , with whom he worked, praised him in The Journal of ancient and modern art, writing that "it was thirty years ago," and he has received advice from Paul Renouard to be formed the technique of etching ; Béraldi adds that his favorite subjects are "Paris at night Paris at night, always." Minartz also gives them some high-remarkable in The Journal of ancient and modern art until 1910: balls, cafe concerts, Parisian in their most beautiful dresses, but also music-halls, music halls, restaurants, large and small theaters, are the preferred settings of his compositions.
Its fertile period seems to end in 1914. In addition to the National Salon, Minartz exhibited in Paris at the gallery Bartholomew (1903), the Independent Living (1905, 1906) and the gallery Devambez (1909) and received the Academic Palms . About the artist:
Pati Bannister was born in Highgate, England, overlooking London in 1929. Growing up, both of her parents were artists. Her mother painted watercolor landscapes, while her father painted portraits. To help further her natural talents, she took art lessons as a young girl and ultimately went to work for J. Arthur Rank, the movie maker, as an animator.
At 22 years old, she came to the United States as a governess for a family in Connecticut. Later she became a flight attendant in Florida where she met her future husband, Glynn. Little did she know, he would become the strongest influence in her life as he inspired her to pursue and share her artistic abilities with the public.
In 1958, Pati and Glynn moved to New Orleans and she started painting portraits in Jackson Square. Eventually, she opened two art galleries located in the French Quarter. In the late 1960's, they moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast...

Born: 1930, Sagua la Grande, Matanzas, Cuba.
Studies: Between 1955-1957 he studied at the Elementary School of Applied Plastic Arts attached to the Academy of Fine Arts San Alejandro, in Havana, Cuba.
Experience: Member of the Association of Cuban Recorders and teaches several drawing and engraving courses at the National School of Art Instructors. In 1965 he entered the Graphic Experimental Workshop of Havana. In 1993 he teaches a mural ceramic course at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, working in turn at the Giuseppe Mazzotti Museum House 1903 in Albissola Mare, Italy.
Exhibitions: It is included in the 1959 annual Salon, Palace of Fine Arts, Havana. He made the first personal exhibition of importance in 1967 with oil-collages and ceramics in the Havana gallery. In 1973 he placed on the mezzanine floor of the Habana Libre Hotel a mural composed of 555 pieces of ceramics started since 1971. In 1997 he presented Sosabravo, The Guardian of the Small, in the Art Gallery, Madrid, Spain. In 2001 he exhibited graphic and painting works in El Comune de Orvieto Italia, in the Sala Conca de la Laguna, Tenerife and at the Feria de la Estampa in Madrid. In Cuba, he built the 10 m2 mural called Carnaval de la Habana for the Residencial América real estate. In 2002, Galería Cernuda Arte, Coral Gables, Florida, shows his works at the Art Miami Fair. In the United Kingdom he exhibited Murano glass oil paintings and sculptures. The Biennale di Ceramica nell'Arte Contemporary of Albissola Mare, Savona, invited him to participate with works that he would carry out in the San Giorgio da Poggi workshop. About the artist.
Born and educated in Cleveland Gary Bukovnik has lived in San Francisco for over 25 years. Primarily using the mediums of watercolor, monotype, and lithograph, Bukovnik creating colorful floral images of great depth and intensity.
Bukovnik collaborates with Trillium Press, whose owner and master printer, David Salgado, studied at the Tamarind Workshop, formerly in Los Angeles.
In 2003, the American Academy in Rome invited Bukovnik to attend the academy as a Visiting Artist for six weeks. He was asked to attend a second session in February 2005. In 2001, he was selected to create a poster for the prestigious List Collection, which creates posters to commemorate programs at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. Lincoln Center past contributors have included Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, Alex Katz, Elizabeth Murray, and Donald Sultan. The work of Gary Bukovnik is held in public and private collections worldwide.

Original vintage poster: Lavocat aliments irradies. Force, Energie par les produits. This is a classic French late Art Deco period poster featuring a buff rugby player almost outpacing a steed - due no doubt to Lavocat, an 'irradiated' food. Even today, the American FDA believes that irradiating food can burn off harmful bacteria, airborne germs, and other microbes which can adversely affect food. We love this poster's depth of color, texture, and oomph - powerful and very, very Art Deco. This poster is an original Art Deco lithograph. This poster is related more to sports and running than food, but food provides energy.
Note that the red is cherry red since different monitors produce the red color of this poster in different qualities. Excellent condition, undated on the poster.
