Yellow Tulips - Contemporary, 21st Century, Silkscreen, Limited Edition, Katz
By Alex Katz
Located in Zug, CH
Alex Katz, Yellow Tulips Contemporary, 21st Century, Silkscreen, Limited Edition Edition of 50 + 5 PP + 15 AP 122,5 x 195,7 cm (48.2 x 77 in.) Signed and numbered on the front In mint condition, as acquired from the publisher (Lococo) PLEASE NOTE: Edition numbers could vary from the one shown in the images. All edition available come from the edition /50 The pictures are only for illustrative reasons, the work is offered unframed. “Yellow Tulips” is part of the famous flower painting series by Alex Katz. The aesthetics of flowers such as flags, tulips, and roses has been continuously explored by the artist throughout his career. "I generally start with oil sketches, because I can paint more quickly than I can draw. In this way I try to capture the sensation of what I’m doing, getting into the unconscious and creating the images, and then figuring out what I did." — Alex Katz Katz has been painting flowers since the 1960s, often during his summer residencies in Maine. The cropped, flattened composition displays a debt to Japanese woodblock art printing. The American artist is well-known for his large paintings, whose bold simplicity and unmodulated colours are now seen as precursors of Pop Art. "Yellow Tulips" is another of Katz's wonderfully bright exploration of nature and the landscape. He represents the volumes and colors created by the natural light, this artwork breathes nature, the radiant yellow delights the vision against the limitless black background. The painting “Tulips 4” which this edition is based on belongs to the Collection of Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. ALEX KATZ Alex Katz (American, born 1927) is the outstanding protagonist of figurative painting and one of our era's most acclaimed artists. In the late 1950s, the artist began to develop his mature style, characterized by elegance, simplicity, and stylized abstraction, which typifies his entire production. Alex Katz’s paintings...

General Dynamics, Exploring the Universe, Sub-Atomic Worlds – Original Poster
By Erik Nitsche
Located in Zurich, CH
A poster belonging to Erik Nitsche's second series for General Dynamics, promoting its nuclear research. Founded 1952, General Dynamics hired Nitsche as Art Director – a Swiss (1908 – 1998) educated at the Collège Classique in his birth town Lausanne and at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. 1934 he emigrated to the United States and became an incredibly versatile graphic designer whose work became exemplary modernist. General Dynamics for its part focused on – amongst others – aerodynamics, aerospace, electronics and nuclear power. So here the company had a problem: Only a few years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki it wasn’t exactly the simplest thing to explore nuclear energy and not to be suspected of developing weapons of mass destruction. The International Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy 1955 in Geneva was a great opportunity to be seen as a provider of peaceful technology. The guys in charge chose Erik Nitsche to communicate this message. He created four poster series. Atoms for Peace was the first consisting of eleven posters. The second was made for the Conference 1958; these posters are titled Exploring the Universe and represent different aspects of technological research. The third series promoted General Dynamics’ departments. The last series of six smaller posters...

The South East Prospect of Westminster Bridge
By Alfred Benjamin Cole
Located in Middletown, NY
After Giovanni Antonio Canal, called Canaletto Copper plate engraving with hand coloring on cream laid paper with the Arms of France watermark (a crown in shield topped by a fleur-de-lys and the letters GR), 22 3/4 x 15 3/4 inches (576 x 400 mm), wide to full margins. Multiple vertical and horizontal creases from folding and rolling; none appear to be particularly hard, there is however some associated cockeling. While there is some minor mat tone visible around the perimeter of the sheet, the extensive handcoloring remains extremely fresh and saturated in the intended areas. There are edge tears at each the right and left sheet edge (outside of the image area) due to an improper effort to mount the sheet to a mat. Otherwise in very good condition with all issues being consistent with age. The print is wrongly titled "The South East Prospect of Westminster Bridge...

Abstract India Edition 3/5 Linocut Print Green Blue Turquoise Architectural
By Mukesh Sharma
Located in Norfolk, GB
There is a natural and raw understanding in Mukesh Sharma’s prints that both depict, and are influenced by, the Rajastani communities of his home town in rural India. In these Limited Edition fine-art prints, made over a period of twenty years, we are offered the colours of India’s ancient land, the textures, light and the patterns that are everywhere. In the patterns of the arable fields to the jali's (carved screens) in the architecture. This work is however not romantic nor nostalgic but shows a deeper rooted need to offer a visual heritage of place, of where the artist is from and the journey that he is taking. The results are both compelling and honest. Mukesh Sharma, Celebration B, Lino-cut on Drawing paper Edition: 3 of 5, 2005 Image size: 47 x 39 cm / Sheet size: 79 x 55 cm Unframed Mukesh Sharma's work: It is often in childhood that paths are set for what we will become. Mukesh Sharma hails from a rural, agricultural village in Rajasthan, India. His Father is a craftsman who fixed and mended farm machinery and understood the working parts in the processes. Sharma followed in his Father’s footsteps, as is often the case in Indian families, but his was not the machines of the fields but the presses of the printing studio. Like his Father, Mukesh Sharma is fascinated with understanding how things work and how he can manipulate the metal in his hands. It is not surprising then that his medium of choice is printing. One of the most physically challenging of all the practices, it can often be physically challenging as well as technical and detailed. In his youth, Sharma would draw with stones on walls and floors. He was lucky his family encouraged this and he is grateful for his early art-training at the Jaipur School of Art but it was at the Baroda Art Department that he was introduced to the great printing traditions of Jyoti Bhatt...

220 for 2020. Art Edition D No. 301–400 ‘My Second Drawing of Beuvron-en-Auge’
By David Hockney
Located in Zug, CH
David Hockney 220 for 2020. Art Edition D No. 301–400 ‘My Second Drawing of Beuvron-en-Auge’, 2021 11-color inkjet print on cotton-fiber archival paper 45.7 × 102.6 cm (18 × 40.4 in) Signed, numbered and dated Edition number 347 In mint condition Unframed Hockney made four different prints, each in an edition of 100, to accompany 400 copies of the book(s). Edition D is numbered, as here, 301-400. Edition A, B and C, each have different images for each of their editions, numbered respectively, 1-100, 101-200, and 201-300. There were another 1,620 “collector edition” books numbered in Volume 1, numbered 401-2,200. From a small, picturesque farmhouse in the rich fields and meadows of the northern French region of Normandy, Hockney followed and recorded the changing seasons throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. For the past decade, Hockney’s medium of choice has been the iPad and it was this technological instrument, he used to spontaneously depict impressions of the Norman landscape surrounding him. The two-year project entitled “220 for 2020” documents the passage of time by portraying the first spring blossoms, the smell of summer, the saturated colours of autumn, and the stark shapes of dark branches in winter time. This poetic undertaking represented a lifeline for the artist, and offered its viewers a message of hope in unprecedented times. As part of this project, Hockney included drawings from his “La Grande Cour, Rumesnil, Normadie, 26 Juli 2019”, sketchbook. These almost autobiographical accounts started in the vicinity of the artist’s Los Angeles home...

Reflection II - Contemporary, 21st Century, Etching, Limited Edition, Alex Katz
By Alex Katz
Located in Zug, CH
Alex Katz, Reflection II Contemporary, 21st Century, Etching, Limited Edition Edition of 30 104 x 78,7 cm (40.9 x 30.9 in.) Signed and numbered, accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity In mint condition, as acquired from the publisher PLEASE NOTE: Edition numbers could vary from the one shown in the images. The pictures are only for illustrative reasons, the work is offered unframed. While Katz is primarily known for his portraiture, nature is the subject that the artist has been painting consistently since the early 1950s. Through nature Katz explores its volumes and colors created by light. "The water becomes white and grey with black in it. With gestures and with light the difficulty factor makes things more interesting," — Alex Katz In "Reflection II" Katz studies the qualities of the fleeting natural light. Typical to Katz, his representation is intuitive rather than descriptive. Katz's practice of minimalist representation is evident in his execution of this print, and yet the visual expression masterfully mediates the feeling of the natural phenomena.
