Kips Bay Decorator Show House 2015
Inspired by the grand scale classic architectural details found in the stair hall of the Arthur Sach Mansion, first time Kips Bay designer Philip Mitchell has chosen to approach the space in a very personal manner. As an homage to his elegant refined mother, philip has combined her traditional decorating influence with his contemporary approach to design. Contrasting his initial inspiration taken from the traditional pattern fresh colour palette of Mulberry s Torridon wall covering, with a carefully curated art collection of both contemporary traditional pieces of various mediums, Philip has created a modern day take on a traditional salon style installation. The Eclectic combination of new antique lighting, the subtle mix of textured runners, the juxtaposition of dramatic art the sparsely placed bespoke furnishings creates a unique visual experience as you travel up the stairs to the surprise bar alcove.
