An exceptionally rare and wonderful signed vintage Boucher Sautoir Necklace made in America by Boucher between 1955 and the early 1960s. The sautoir comprises six strings of gilt box chain adorned with six beautiful accent pieces. These accent pieces clasp the chain as it drops towards the main tassel pendant. The accent pieces are made of gilt metal, finished in a brushed gold checkered effect and set with four cabochon faux rubies and tiny crystal rhinestones. The accent on the tassel drop pendant is a larger version of these smaller ones that adorn the chain and has no less than ten faux rubies and rhinestones. Gilt finishers complete the sautoir on each of the twenty strands in the tassel. This is a truly incredible vintage Boucher Sautoir Necklace and example of Boucher design and quality. An incredible piece of 1940s sterling silver Vintage Boucher jewellery depicting a clever take on the crest of wave. This vintage Boucher clip would have been worn originally as a fur clip. Crafted from solid sterling silver and invisibly set with crystals of exquisite coloring, emulating precious jewellery and in this case, emerald, diamond and sapphire. A fabulous high quality piece as you would expect from Boucher jewellery. Jewels by Marcel Boucher are without doubt, premiere examples of fine jewel imitations. The lengths these artists went to working with silver and glass during the 1930s & 40s in America were simply extraordinary. Such was the importance of the costume jewellery movement at this time and the desire of the movement to establish costume jewellery as an art form in its own right. Born in Paris, Marcel Boucher moved to NYC and founded his own company in 1937 and quickly made a name for himself creating individual works of wearable art.
