About Talking Heads:
At the start of their career, Talking Heads were all nervous energy, detached emotion, and subdued minimalism. When they released their last album about 12 years later, the band had recorded everything from art-funk to polyrhythmic worldbeat explorations and simple, melodic guitar pop. Between their first album in 1977 and their last in 1988, Talking Heads became one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s, while managing to earn several pop hits. Vintage original sepia toned photo taken in Manhattan's historic Chelsea area in 1979. Artist statement: "As I was riding by 101 West 25th Street, north-side of block, closer to 6th Ave., workers were removing a newer sign that was mounted on top of CHELSEA 101, unaware what was under… They didn’t show much surprise and proceeded to mount the new sign… Seeing that, from my bike, I stopped and got the shot before they covered it up with another sign… CHELSEA 101 remained there until the building was renovated; today, a window into a bygone era of family owned sewing machine shops..."

Natalici’s portfolio includes sought after images of a young Patti Smith, Blondie, Talking Heads, Keith Haring, The Ramones and more. As an Art Director, Fernando has played a key role in creating memorable visuals for historic NY venues such as CBGB's, The Mudd Club, Area and Danceteria.

Fernando Natalici Area Nightclub 1983-1987:
A collection of 16 hand-colored silver gelatin photographs spanning the history of the seminal 1980s New York nightclub known as "Area". These rare images were captured by Fernando Natalici - a noted downtown art scene photographer who is also famous for designing the majority of Area's party invites during this period. These works were exhibited at Area circa 1986 as part of show curated by Serge Becker (featured in image 4) - a key Area figurehead. A much historical & highly decorative assemblage of Area regulars defining the club's historic & vibrant scene. Further details:
