Bill Blass Vintage Black Sequin Suit With Removable Fox Collar Cuffs Size 6-8
By Bill Blass
Located in Palm Desert, CA
This very chic suit was made for a friend/client of Mr. Bill Blass. It possibly is one of a kind. The two piece set includes a slim flattering shape skirt and an amazing cardigan jacket with fox trim on the collar and the cuff. Both are removable for cleaning. The size tag has been removed. Per the measurements it could fit a modern size 6 to 8. Skirt: waist: 28" length: 23". Please look below for jacket measurments. This suit is a great example of the classic, luxe, glamour that Mr. Blass had throughout his career. It is a show stopping suit. BIO: Mr.Bill Blass William Ralph Blass (June 22, 1922 – June 12, 2002) was an American fashion designer. He was the recipient of many fashion awards, including seven Coty Awards and the Fashion Institute of Technology's Lifetime Achievement Award (1999). Early life Blass was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Ralph Aldrich Blass, a traveling hardware salesman, and his wife, Ethyl (Keyser) Blass. In his autobiography, Blass wrote that the margins in his school books were filled with sketches of Hollywood-inspired fashions instead of notes. At fifteen, he began sewing and selling evening gowns for $25 each to a New York manufacturer. At seventeen he had saved enough money to move to Manhattan and study fashion. At eighteen, he was the first male to win Mademoiselle's Design for Living award. He spent his salary of $30 a week on clothing, shoes and elegant meals. In 1943, Blass enlisted in the Army. Due to his intelligence and talent, he was assigned to the 603rd Camouflage Battalion, which came to be known as the Ghost Army. Its mission was to deceive the German Army into believing the Allies were positioned in fake locations, for example by using dummy...

Bill Blass Custom Emerald Cocktail Strapless Dress Vest for Martha PB Size 8
By Bill Blass
Located in Palm Desert, CA
Oh how Luxe! 1990s custom made ensemble by Bill Blass (when he was alive and designing) for Martha Palm Beach. Worn to an event once! Dress is a strapless emerald velvet bodice with duchess silk satin pencil skirt. The dress has a built in bustier with boning that has a separate zipper. The dress then zips up separately on the satin and velvet. The cover up is a wool (maybe with cashmere blend) vest with large buttons, meant to be worn open, one button closed or even off shoulder Blass style. Size and fabric tag removed, appears to be a modern 6-8. Beautifully made. Dress is entirely lined. Center back slit on dress. Vest: Bust: 37”. Waist: 34” Hip: 36”. Length: 23”. Retailed for over $3500. Bio: Mr. Bill Blass William Ralph Blass (June 22, 1922 – June 12, 2002) was an American fashion designer. Portrait of Christina Patterson, 5 Years Old
By Aaron Shikler
Located in Milford, NH
A fine portrait of a 5 year old Christina Patterson by American artist Aaron Abraham Shikler (1922-2015). Shikler was born in Brooklyn, New York, studied at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, then studied in New York with the abstract painter Hans Hofmann, but he remained a committed realist throughout his life, under the sway of artists like Degas, Vuillard, Sickert and Sargent. To make a living, he painted clowns and ballerinas for a wholesale company, signing the work “Phil I. Steen” to register his disgust. When Leroy Davis, an Army friend, opened the Davis Gallery in Manhattan in 1953, he began showing Mr. Shikler’s work, which included figure studies, still lifes and landscapes. A turning point came in 1959 when Jane Engelhard...

Our Years At Mortimer s With Glenn Bernbaum
Located in Bristol, CT
DUNNE, Dominick [forward by] Privately Printed 1998 8" x 9 1/4" [72] pp. Spiral-bound Mortimer's, on Manhattan's Upper East Side, was the society restaurant of the 1980s and 90s. Glenn Bernbaum, the famed restaurant's proprietor, was more important to the restaurant's success than any dish that came out of its kitchen. He understood that the most essential recipe for a restaurant's success is understanding its clientele. Mortimer's was cozy and clubby, and its menu harkened back to the comfort foods one recalled from childhood. Moreover, the prices were reasonable, which appealed to the old money types who so enjoyed eating there. Per Bernbaum, "There's nothing the rich like better than a bargain." In fact, Mortimer's was so understated that Hollywood did not get it. Dominick Dunne...

Jar Paris Volume I-II Book Collection
Located in New York, NY
"The Cartier of our time." —Christies. "Exquisitely refined creations. Rosenthal made jewellery modern but infused it with the timelessness of perfection." —Telegraph. "The Faberge´ of our time." —Diane von Furstenberg. Volume I showcases a selection of the jewels made since the shop's founding in 1978 up to "The Jewels of JAR - Paris" exhibition, held at Somerset House in London (November 2002 - January 2003.) Volume II presents a selection of works created between 2002 and up to JAR's exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2014. About JAR Since opening JAR in 1978, with the help of his Swiss friend Pierre Jeannet, Joel Arthur Rosenthal, has become one of the world's most sought after jewellery designers. A native New Yorker, Rosenthal moved to Paris after graduating from Harvard and has lived in the city for most of his adult life. He experimented in scriptwriting and then needlepoint, opening a shop where he experimented with unusually coloured yarns. It's clientele included designers from Herme`s and Valentino. Rosenthal was one day asked if he could design a mount for a gemstone, setting his career in a new direction. His signature includes setting gems in pave arrangements, so finely wrought as to be virtually invisible. Rosenthal uses...
