Luis Pons, Original Frame Dresser
By Luis Pons
Located in Geneve, CH
Frame dresser. FRA-02 frame collection. Design by Luis Pons. Limited edition, signed and numbered. Six drawers dresser featuring a walnut finish interior. Antique bronze steel legs. Dark finish frame segments with gold accents (shown in dark lacquer exterior frames). Measures: 36” W x 44” H x 21” D. 92 cm W x 112 cm H x 54 cm D. Frame: Through functional explorations of the classic frame molding, the frame collection probes the duality of surface and substance. No longer limited to corners or edges, the molding transforms from a peripheral enhancement of furniture’s surface to a global covering that redefines its substance. Luis Guillermo Pons is an award-winning designer and the founder of Luis Pons D-LAB, an architecture and design firm based in Miami, Florida.  He is “interested in design that really speaks to people who want to engage in a conversation with it, design whose ultimate purpose is revealed by the user, design that allows for the possibility of change, design that touches the senses.” A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Pons’ design vision extends to different areas of design, encompassing everything from interior design to the design of jewelry, objects furniture and illumination.    Pons’ designs have been featured in leading domestic and international publications including Architectural Digest, Arquitectura Y Disen~o, Architecture & Wohnen, Balthazar L’Magazine de l’Homme, Casas, Elle De´cor, Hotel Design, House & Garden, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home and Vogue. His works appear in numerous design books, including The Tropical Modern House (Rizzoli) and Miami Interiors (Taschen) and have been featured at leading international art and design expositions, including Art Basel, (Basel, Switzerland and Miami, USA) and the International Furniture Fair (Milan, Italy). Luis Pons D-LAB’s projects include private residences, hotels, and commercial properties. Pons’ furniture collections include “Frame,” the “Beach Collection,” “Illusion” and the “Panama Collection” (created especially for the Guanhani Resort, St. Bart’s).  His lighting, jewelry and other design collections include “Mutables” “Rain” and “Uno.” A frequent guest on television, Pons himself was host and presenter of “Asi´ se Hace” (“This is how it’s done”), the first-ever home improvement...

Antique Engraving of Kirby Hall Near Gretton, Northamptonshire, England c.1770
Located in Langweer, NL
Antique print titled 'Principal Front of Kirby Hall'. Kirby Hall is an Elizabethan country house, located near Gretton, Northamptonshire, England. The nearest main town is Corby. One of the great Elizabethan houses of England, Kirby Hall was built for Sir Humphrey Stafford of Blatherwick, beginning in 1570. In 1575 the property was purchased by Sir Christopher Hatton of Holdenby,[1] Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I. It is a leading and early example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. Construction on the building began in 1570, based on the designs in French architectural pattern books and expanded in the Classical style over the course of the following decades. The house is now in a semi-ruined state with many parts roof-less although the Great Hall and state rooms remain intact. The gardens, with their elaborate "cutwork" design, complete with statues and urns, have been recently restored. Anne of Denmark stayed at Kirby on 9 August 1605 while King James stayed at Rockingham Castle. King James stayed for three days in August 1616. During a royal progress Esmé Stewart, 3rd Duke of Lennox died at Kirby of the "spotted ague" on 30 July 1624. The building and gardens are owned by the Earl of Winchilsea and are managed by English Heritage. Kirby Hall has been used as a filming location in many productions. These include the following; an episode (6. Protest and Communication) of Kenneth Clark...

"Basket Weave" Table Lamp Attr. to Paul Laszlo
By Paul Laszlo
Located in Pasadena, CA
Visionary Paul Laszlo designed this mid-century table lamp for Brown Saltman during the 1950s in the United States. It has a wood body adorned with Laszlo's chest pattern, reminiscent of his famed "Basket Weave" furniture line. Geometry and volumes take center stage with its rectangular structure for the foot and base and tube-shaped shade. Paul Laszlo (1900-1993) was a Hungarian-born American interior designer known for his luxurious and influential work during the mid-20th century. He became a prominent figure in Hollywood's Golden Age, designing elegant interiors for celebrities, wealthy clients, and prominent institutions. Laszlo studied architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In 1927, he moved to the United States and settled in Los Angeles, where he quickly established himself as a sought-after designer. His work embodied the glamour and sophistication of the era, combining modernist principles with opulent materials and impeccable craftsmanship. Laszlo's clientele included Hollywood stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, and Barbara Stanwyck. Laszlo's designs often featured custom furniture, vibrant colors, rich textures, and a harmonious blend of traditional and modern elements. Throughout his career, Laszlo worked on various projects ranging from private residences to hotels, clubs, and corporate spaces. His notable works include the interiors of the iconic Cocoanut Grove nightclub at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, as well as the renowned Brown Derby restaurant. Paul Laszlo's influence extended beyond his immediate projects. He authored several books on interior...
