Georgis Mirgorodsky, Alaia, Dining Table, USA, 2022
By Georgis Mirgorodsky
Located in New York, NY
The Alaia dining table is an homage to pre-20 th century Hawaiian surfboards. The top, made from dramatically grained ziricote wood indigenous to Mexico, rests on an ebonized oak base. Ziricote is a non-threatened species often used for fine musical instruments. This table can be used with a pair of matching Alaia commodes, upon which the leaves rest when in its smallest configuration, eliminating the need for leaf storage. Leaf storage case available if used alone. Note: Custom sizes are available. Georgis...

1990s Vintage Dale Velzy balsawood longboard
By Dale Velzy
Located in Haleiwa, HI
Mid-1990s Velzy balsawood longboard shaped by the late Dale Velzy (1927-2005). Features a 5-stringer design with gorgeous wood fin and tail-block. A superb example of Dale Velzy shaped balsa surfboard and beautiful functional art piece. Velzy is credited with conceptualizing many of the promotional techniques now considered a standard in the surfing world. This includes being the very first surfboard maker to form a surfing team, a practice which would became very popular in the future. Dale ‘Hawk’ Velzy made numerous contributions to the world of surfing and as a result was one of the first individuals to be inducted into the Hermosa Beach Surfers Walk of Fame in 2003, two years before passing away. Velzy began shaping surfboards in the 1940's in Manhattan Beach, California. Board of the day were hard to ride and transport due to the size and weight. Velzy saw this as an opportunity and started to shape surfboards using lightweight balsawood which made the boards easier to ride and transport. He soon outgrew his first board shop in Manhattan Beach which was opened in 1950, this shop would later be credited as the first commercial surfboard factory. Velzy later formed a partnership with the legendary board maker Hap Jacobs...

White ETR coffee table designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1950s
By Charles and Ray Eames, Vitra
Located in Athens, Attiki
Herman Miller white ETR coffee table designed by Charles and Ray Eames,1951. ETR was the abbreviated name of the Elliptical (E) Table (T) on a Rod (R) base. Long really means long in the case of ETR (226cm). But because it’s just under 75cm wide it doesn’t overwhelm the room.It stands very low and has a very distinctive shape which helped coin the alternative name of the Eames ‘Surfboard’ table...

Developed for both outdoor and indoor areas, this armchair refers directly to a sport with great cultural identification with Brazil: surf. Pisces: The Hilbers Chandelier by Andrea Claire Studio
By Andrea Claire Studio
Located in Los Angeles, CA
The Hilbers Chandelier is named for Brian Hilbers, a true California free spirit and the designer of Andrea’s first surfboard. About Pisces Pisces is perhaps Andrea’s most personal collection to date. An avid surfer whose ideal morning involves riding the waves in Malibu, she channeled the ocean’s fluid rhythms, sunlit hues, and sculptural contours in designing each of the fixtures. But her inspiration dives even deeper and surfaces even more specifically. Alone on the sea with her board, Andrea observed the mesmerizing movement of glowing kelp blades through the deep blue water. She thought about how the presence of kelp is a sign of a healthy ocean. An idea began to take shape. Back in her studio in Los Angeles, she brought her vision to life, choosing smooth, floating brass and undulating aqua-colored fiberglass to echo the textures and colors she had admired, and she and her team carefully engineered the elements to flow seamlessly around each other, wave-like. Even the fixture names, which honor iconic surfboard designers, hold special resonance for Andrea. The Hilbers Chandelier is named for Brian Hilbers, a true California free spirit (he has said that when it comes to surfboard design, “the only rules is no rules”) and the designer of Andrea’s first board. The McTavish Chandelier...
