Outstanding Finn Juhl Rosewood and Silver Inlay "Judas" Dining Table, Restored
By Niels Vodder, Finn Juhl
Located in South Bend, IN
An extremely rare and exceptional mid-century Danish Modern "Judas" extension dining table. This iconic table was designed by Finn Juhl, expertly produced by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, and retailed by Illums Bolighus of Copenhagen, Denmark. The table features an expandable oval top in stunning book-matched Brazilian rosewood, with round silver inlays, floating on a sculptural base with tapered solid rosewood legs. Made in Denmark, circa 1950s. Branded manufacturer’s mark to underside: "Cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, Copenhagen Denmark, Design: Finn Juhl." Measures: 71"W x 47.25"D x 28.25"H. Extends up to 114.5"W with two 21.75" leaves. Professionally restored. Excellent condition. Along with Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Børge Mogensen, Finn Juhl was one of the great masters of mid-20th-century Danish design. Juhl was the first among that group to have his work promoted overseas, bringing the character of the nation’s furnishings — and the inherent principles of grace, craftsmanship and utility on which they were based — to an international audience. A stylistic maverick, Juhl embraced expressive, free-flowing shapes in chair and sofa designs much earlier than his colleagues, yet even his quietest pieces incorporate supple, curving forms that are at once elegant and ergonomic. Juhl quickly won a following for such signature designs as the supremely comfortable Chieftan lounge chair, the biomorphic Baker sofa, and this Judas table, ornamented with stylish inlaid silver plaquettes.

Danish Modern Borge Morgensen Shaker series Model 5267 Oak Coffee table
By Børge Mogensen
Located in Uccle, BE
Shaker table model 5267 for Danish Furniture makers in Fredericia, Denmark. Among the great mid-20th century Danish furniture designers, Børge Mogensen distinguished himself with his faith to traditional values of craftsmanship and honesty of materials. While peers such as Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen designed some of the most striking and now iconic furnishings of the era, Mogensen focused on making pieces that were simple, durable and comfortable — and in the long run perhaps more useful and better loved. Mogensen studied under and later worked for Kaare Klint, a master cabinetmaker whose chief tenets were quality of construction and simplicity of line. Klint was a classicist, who believed that furniture forms should evolve from those of historical models. So, too, in his way was Mogensen, as two of his best-known earlier pieces attest. His 1945 Spokeback Sofa, with hinged arms that can be lowered to facilitate lounging, is a reinterpretation of the venerable Knole settee. With the oval silhouette of its plywood backrest and waterdrop-shaped cutouts, Mogenson’s Shell chair, designed in 1949, can be seen as a novel take on early 19th century Empire side chairs. Yet Mogensen shared the aesthetical sensibilities of his most forward-looking colleagues. His cabinets deploy the same spare geometries and lushly figured woods as those of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and his disciple Florence Knoll, the chief difference being that Mies and Knoll used...

1960s Scandinavian Modern Danish Solid Teak Round Dining Table
By Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Eero Saarinen
Located in Grand Cayman, KY
Very elegant 1960s round dining table Made in Denmark, unusually constructed from solid teak wood (not veneered). Quintessential Scandinavian Modern design: minimal, fine materials, highly practical, clean smooth lines, sturdy construction and timeless aesthetic. The table has a diameter of 40 in (100 cm) and a single leg, which achieves an uncluttered appearance under the table and buttressing into four feet that rise a low profile parallel to the floor. This leg form in teak bears a striking resemblance to the iconic La Fonda base by Charles Eames, which was cast in Aluminum. Table height is standard 28.5 in (72 cm). The leg and feet are also carved from beautiful solid, strait grained teak. The table has been professionally refinished in a hard wax oil which faithfully presents the original look and feel whilst providing contemporary levels of robust protection. The table has only extremely minor signs of wear considering the age and use. This timeless table shows every promise of gracing a kitchen or dining room for another 60 years, and then some. The contemporaneous cognac leather shell chairs...

Eugenio Quarti desk, Chair and Trah in Style Liberty or Art Nouveau, Jugestails
By Eugenio Quarti

Eugenio Quarti (Desk , chair and Trash ) Style: Liberty or Art Nouveau or Modernism or Jugendstil Furniture realized mainly in inlays of nacre and metallic applications, parchament bronze ferrules. We have specialized in the sale of Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles since 1982.If you have any questions we are at your disposal Pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'. In 1881, at the age of 14 years old he goes to Paris, where he will learn new techniques and broaden his horizons. In 1886, he returned to Italy and settled in Milan where he worked, for a short period, with Carlo Bugatti and then open his own workshop in via Donizetti 3. His early works are strongly marked by Bugatti Moorish’s style, but already the exhibition of Turin of 1898 you can see the first signs of Art Nouveau and his personal style. He was always attentive to the quality and originality of his accomplishments, always attentive to every art form. Furniture realized mainly in walnut with inlays of nacre and metallic applications. Develop over time a harmonic elegance of the decor, with thread-like grounds, valuable wood species and inlays and high quality bezels with fine materials (nacre, silver, copper, bronze, pewter, etc.), this characteristic was called "the goldsmith of furniture makers." In 1900 he participates at the Paris International exposition where he received the "Grand Prix" of the jury. Will participate in a number of other exposures as that of Turin in 1902 and Milan in 1906 where he will receive the "Grand Royal Award" and the "Diploma of gold medal". Eugenio Quarti worked with the most prestigious architects of his time (Giuseppe Sommaruga, Luigi Broggi, Alfredo Campanini, etc.) well as with the great artists/craftsmen of his time as Alessandro Mazzucotelli. He also worked as a decorator, designing entire furniture for both public and private buildings. It was he who designed the furniture for Palazzo Castiglioni in Milan, Villa Carosio in Baveno, Grand Hotel and Casino in San Pellegrino Terme, Hungaria Palace Hotel in Venice Lido. One of his most significant works were the vessels of the "Bar Camparino", at the entrance site of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan. however not disdain also committed less important such as the furniture for Villa Mariani to Bordighera residence of the painter Pompeo Mariani...
