This One Accessory Is Key to Dressing Like a French Girl
Sponsor Content Created With Longchamp
French-girl fashion is something we've waxed poetic about here at Who What Wear for as long as I can remember. If an actual trip to Paris isn't in the cards for you this season, don't fret. I got the inside scoop on how to dress like a French girl, no passport required. And it's all thanks to fashion influencer and Paris native Camille Yolaine and Who What Wear Editorial Director Lauren Eggertsen, who just got back from a trip to the French capital.
Both women agree that French style has a certain je ne sais quoi. Women in Paris have the non-fussy, simple, but polished look that we're all striving for. And the way they achieve it is simpler than you think. It has to do with a certain designer: Longchamp. The iconic French luxury house is a gold mine of pieces that feel sophisticated and easy at the same time. There's one accessory from the designer you can find on the shoulder of practically every chic Parisian girl: the Box Trot bag. You'll find yourself wearing it with everything in your closet—it's that good. Keep scrolling to see how the two fashion experts are currently styling it.
"My fall style is very simple," Yolaine tells me. "I love to stick to classic pieces that suit me, almost like a uniform." So it's no surprise to me that she ended up in this Longchamp minidress from the F/W 23 collection. "I fell in love with this blue dress as soon as I saw it because it has a vintage and simple vibe that I love," she says. "It reminds me of Bridget Bardot's dress in my favorite film, And God Created Woman." I love the contrast of the canvas Box-Trot bag (a go-to style for Yolaine) and the elegant silver shoes. The two tones create a fun twist that just works. I can see this look easily going from a day at the office to after-work drinks with friends. Just add a blazer or chunky cardigan as the temps drop.
When it comes to fall trends, Eggertsen likes to shop for pieces that will also be staples. That's why the popularity of denim-on-denim has been on her radar. "I'm a huge fan of denim, so I'm very excited to dip my toes into the denim-on-denim trend this fall," she says. "Investing in two denim pieces that you can wear together means you can also wear them separately with elevated basics." So naturally, she invested in this ultra-chic Canadian-tuxedo look from Longchamp. "I love that I was able to make this look feel so different thanks to the shorts paired with the elevated heeled boots," she explains. "I knew immediately when I put the boots on that I had to style them with this brown Box-Trot bag because it happened to pair perfectly with the stunning warm tone of the suede. A no-brainer."
