Every now and then, an item comes along that every single editor in our office is all wanting to possess. And that’s exactly what has happened with Zara’s new split-hem leggings.
We first spotted the pair on Camille Charriere a few weeks back, but since then we've been seeing split-hem leggings just about everywhere. The style presents an elevated take on the wardrobe basic, and while many fashion authorities may have claimed "leggings are not pants” in years past, Zara’s pair is certainly disproving this theory with the backing of the fashion set.
Styled against oversized blazers or boxy shirts and jumpers, leggings have been given a decidedly fashion-forward makeover for 2020 and are proving to be the trouser of choice for many influencers and It girls. Our advice? When trying the trend, keep the rest of your look fairly polished (think structured jackets, tailored shirts and boots or loafers) to avoid looking like you're headed to the gym.
