Push/Pull onion crown crownguard:
The round knob that sticks out from the top or side of the case, called the 'couronne' in French, is used to wind the mainspring and set the hands to the proper time. In the early days of watchmaking, this type of crown was considered to be the most desirable, for its beauty and ease of use. The enclosures within the crown guard help to prevent malfunctions and inaccuracies. The spherical shape with vertical grooves resemble an onion, inspiring the moniker.
