Last night I was having a chat with a friend of mine. We were talking about designers, and she told me that she was ascending the ladder to the next level. To add to the dramatics, she was referring to upgrading her next handbag purchase. She plans on purchasing a Hermes bag next. Her ‘go-to’ bag is a Chanel Jumbo Flap Bag. She also owns a few more Chanel Flap bags including the PST, GST and she also has a 2.55 reissue.
This isn’t the first time I’ve heard references to certain handbags as levels. Apparently, there is a level between Chanel bags and Hermes bags. So I have a question: Do you ladies opt to buy Louis Vuitton because Chanel, Balenciaga, and Hermes are extremely pricey?
A popular Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag ranges from $600 to $800 USD. Meanwhile, a Balenciaga bag costs around $2,000 USD and a Chanel bag costs around $4,500 USD. A Hermes bag is the most expensive out of these brands, costing upwards of around $10,000 USD. So do you see how the bags can be referred to as being on levels?
What are your ladies’ thoughts about this? Do you buy LV due to the extreme prices of Hermes, Balenciaga, and Chanel?

If you compare a leather lv bag with other designer bag, you’ll see that they’re more expensive than a couple of them..
So it’s depends on what you want and what you need.
This blog is silly. I have a birkin, kelly, a vintage Chanel classic flap and plenty of LV. Which brand do I continue to go back to because of style and durability? LV. You pretty much can’t go wrong with their 3 classic canvases and the Epi line. You could literally brush those up against a cement wall and it still looks new. I only wear my Hermes when I’m shopping and only wear my Chanel for formal occasions. Also, don’t buy a bag because you think you’re going to resell it and get your money back. Yes, Chanel and Hermes return value quicker, but just like any investment- what goes up must come down.
Balenciaga???? Really???? The brand doesn’t even categorized as luxury. Louis Vuitton has higher price point than Balenciaga when we’re talking about leather bags. Your point of comparison of Louis Vuitton is just canvass which is in anyway not comparable to the leather ones. Revise your article
Hermes bags are for stuffy chicks. LV bags are for cool chicks. Of course, there are wannabes which means they buy fake Hermes or LVs.
I like both Chanel for more formal ocaccion and LV cabanas for rainy days, travel and bad weathers. I feel LV is more durable and worth the price. By the way I feel the comparison is not fear LV have many expensive bags as Chanel like the capucino and considera that they have many types of leathers that are way more expensive than the cavanas. I also want to add they have some exotics leathers that cost more than 30 000. However I love Chanel classic stile in caviar and I considera it as a great investment and don’t lost them value. I hate lam skin and because after few use they get damage (experience with 3 bags one after first use). About Hermes in the past I hate the style and the idea of carry something heavy but now I’m considering to get birkin and Kelly I guess style change with age.
I have my eyes on a Chanel black gold hardware medium classic flap. It would be a great investment and pass it on to my daughter in a few years. I am a big LV fan but somehow only love speedy or never full since they are so simple and easy to use on the daily basis. I have a nf demier Ebe gm. speedy 30 in demier Ebe print and speedy 35 in monogram. But I keep thinking of a monogram mm and arzur speedy 30 too. Should I keep buying these two or save more on a Chanel classic flap? Please give me some suggestion. Thank you!
Hi LV lover, here is my advice. It depends on the speed of saving and getting the Classic Flap Bag, because the price of this Chanel bag increases every year. So if you can save on time and purchase the Classic Flap Bag, it’s really recommended because the value of this bag will go up and up in the future very fast. While the LV Speedy and Neverful also go up in prices, but they just go much slower. And after the Classic Flap Bag, you can always purchase another speedy.
