Available for sale; this original painting is by Cornelius Pearson with a significant contribution by Thomas Francis Wainewright, and is dated 1872.
The watercolor is presented and supplied in a sympathetic pinned corner frame dating from the 1950s or 1960s (which is shown in these photographs), mounted and behind glass.
This antique painting is in very good condition whilst the frame is in a good condition, commensurate with age. It is ready to hang and display.
The watercolor is signed by both artists and dated 1872 lower left.
The mount is titled and attributed by hand.
Cornelius Pearson was an accomplished landscape artist. He was born in Boston, Lincolnshire but moved at an early age to London where he became apprenticed to a copper-plate engraver. He soon abandoned engraving however to devote himself to being a watercolor painter. Although he lived in London throughout his career, he travelled for his work to paint in Kent, Ireland, Wales, the Lake District, Scotland, on the Thames and Devon.
He was a regular exhibitor at the Suffolk Street Galleries, and also exhibited at the Royal Academy, the New Watercolor Society and elsewhere. He was one of the oldest members of the Langham...

David Wang is a native of Beijing, China. He gained his education from the Beijing Education College of China in 1984, where he learned various techniques in drawing, watercolor, oil painting, sculpture, graphic design, and Chinese watercolor. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree, he became a fine arts teacher. During his eight years of teaching, he has taught hundreds of quality students, some becoming professional artists and cinematographers. Wang has also accomplished several major art and design projects, such as designing and creating an exhibit of the Terra-Cotta army warriors in the Forbidden City and interior designs for shopping plazas in Beijing.
In 1988, David came to the U.S as a visitor scholar and studied at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. After his studies in 1992, he continued his profession as a full-time artist. Linda Newman Boughton’s Baroque inspired landscape drawings made entirely with blue ball point pens. To create the intricate depictions of untouched forests, the artist uses her favorite brand of “Rite in the Rain” waterproof pens and employs a variation of pen strokes. Loose, gestural lines serve as the drawing’s foundation, while certain sections are built up with tight strokes to develop finer details. Near completion, Boughton applies more kinetic linework to the detailed areas to keep them from feeling tight, also to embody the energy of the forest plants themselves. This technique abstracts the landscape just enough for the viewer to realize the scene is not derived from life but rather from an imaginative realm.
Boughton’s passion for the arts began early, as she acted, made art, and designed theatrical sets throughout her youth. She went on to study fashion illustration at Florida State University before transferring to F.I.T in New York City.
