Spring of Hope
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Spring of Hope," encapsulates the essence of the artwork. Just as spring represents a season of rejuvenation and new beginnings, the woman in this piece embodies the idea of hope blooming anew. The flowing scarf, with its gentle and fluid movement, conjures images of a gentle breeze, carrying with it the promise of better days ahead. Oyindamola's use of color in "Spring of Hope" is both intentional and evocative. She employs soft, pastel hues that evoke a sense of serenity and optimism. The woman's visage radiates tranquility, and her eyes suggest a moment of introspection and inner peace. It's as if she is embracing the beauty of the present while eagerly anticipating the opportunities that the future may hold. The central figure in "Spring of Hope" is rendered with remarkable attention to detail. Oyindamola captures the elegance and grace of the woman, who exudes a sense of poise and strength. Her closed eyes convey a sense of trust and surrender, suggesting a willingness to embrace the unknown with open arms. Symbolism plays a crucial role in this artwork. The scarf, flowing around the woman's neck, is a powerful symbol of continuity and resilience. It represents the idea that no matter the challenges faced, there is always a thread of hope that connects us to a brighter future. The scarf's circular form also signifies the cyclical nature of life, where endings inevitably give way to new beginnings. "Spring of Hope" is a painting that resonates deeply with viewers, inviting them to reflect on the ever-present possibility of renewal in their own lives. The closed eyes of the woman encourage introspection and a sense of connection with the universal human experience of longing for better days. Oyewumi Oyindamola...

My Lady
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"My Lady" is a testament to the artist's admiration for the beauty that women possess in their unique forms. Oyindamola skillfully captures the essence of femininity through the lady's enchanting smile, which radiates joy and confidence. This portrayal challenges society's narrow definitions of beauty, reminding us that every woman, regardless of societal standards, possesses an innate beauty that should be recognized and celebrated. Through "My Lady," Oyindamola emphasizes the crucial need to respect and appreciate all women. The artwork stands as a visual proclamation, demanding that society view women not as objects to be scrutinized or judged but as individuals deserving of dignity and admiration. By depicting the lady with a smile on her face, the artist reminds us that every woman deserves to be seen and treated with respect, acknowledging her inherent worth beyond physical appearances. In "My Lady," Oyindamola captures a sense of empowerment and self-love that every woman should embrace. The lady's radiant smile symbolizes her self-assuredness and acceptance of her own beauty. By presenting this image, the artist encourages women to recognize their own worth and appreciate their individuality. The artwork serves as a reminder that self-love is the foundation for demanding respect and appreciation from others. "My Lady" challenges the stereotypes and societal norms that often diminish the value and potential of women. Oyindamola's artwork sparks a dialogue about gender equality, urging viewers to reflect on the importance of dismantling the barriers that prevent women from fully expressing themselves and realizing their dreams. By portraying the lady as a strong and confident figure, the artist invites us to redefine our perceptions of women and advocate for their empowerment. Through "My Lady," Oyindamola underscores the importance of unity and inclusivity in championing the rights and recognition of all women. The artwork emphasizes that beauty comes in diverse forms and that every woman, regardless of race, age, or background, should be valued and respected. The lady's smile and the necklace she wears become symbols of unity, reminding us of the strength and beauty that arise from embracing diversity. Oyewumi...

Love Garden Party (Picnic #1), by Skip Hill, Mixed Media on Vellum, 2019
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
'Love Garden Party (Picnic #1)' is an original mixed-medium work of art composed of high quality acrylic paint, opaque, metallic and neon inks, hand-cut collage, sealed with satin varnish on 36"h x 23.875"w on cold press paper stock. The painting is framed (41.5"h x 29.5”w) with conservation quality, high UV-filtering museum glazing. Signed by the artist. Part of Skip Hill's 'Love Garden Party' series, this work depicts four women gathered around a festive table filled with food and drink with a myriad of disparate objects including masks, Asian porcelain, and flowers. Skip Hill was born in 1961 in Padre Island, Texas but grew up primarily in Oklahoma City. After attending Oklahoma City University to study Advertising and Marketing, he worked as a graphic designer before relocating in 1987 to Southern California. A two-week trip to Thailand in 1989 turned into a year traveling throughout Southeast Asia while writing for a business magazine based in Bangkok. In 1990 Skip Hill relocated to the Netherlands, immersing himself in the culture and learning the Dutch language. His frequent visits the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum and The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as well as the Boijman Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, sparked Hill’s interest in creating art inspired by aesthetic concerns over the strictly commercial art he produced during his advertising career. It was during this time abroad that he traveled through Germany, Czechoslovakia and Morocco. After returning to Oklahoma in 1993, Skip Hill studied formally at The University of Oklahoma with conceptual artist Hachivi Edgar Heap of Birds, and influential abstract painter George Bogart...

Just one of those days when everything goes right and the world is an exciting place. The very pavements seemed to be alive with magical stories to tell of the many feet that had trampled upon them. Everything seemed right with the world because I was going to meet my friend for a glass of wine. You know that friend who just gets you? Who you don't have to explain everything too, and they laugh in all the right places. I was going to meet that friend and have a glass of wine and everything else could wait. It really was the best day ever. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. Whilst the work is on heavy duty art paper and mixed media, the artist is happy that the painting will be fine rolled in a tube. About Isabel Rock and her work: Taking inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints and Indian miniature painting Rock has developed a unique collage technique that combines bold structures with large-scale woodblock prints and intricate detailing. The subject is a grand mixture of humour, drama, hidden morals, fanciful characters, modern culture, mythical beings and fantastical situations. Rock creates a world that pulls you in and demands your attention. Quality of line is paramount, the drawings are created using a dipping pen and acrylic ink. An essential tool is a squirrel...

Artwork Details: Paradise Island, 148x111.5cm, ink, acrylic paint and mixed media on paper, 2013 Artwork Provenance: from the Artist Studio photo credits, Isabel working, black and white shots, James Brown In Isabel's own words: Paradise island It truly was paradise on paradise island. No plastic bottles touched these shores, no human hand had exploited the rich minerals and resources of the land, no complicated administrative tasks affected the residents. The birdmen who lived there were united in one common purpose, and that was to wait for The Egg. They waited day and night in a fever of excitement, hours and days and sometimes weeks went past and they did not grow weary, this only increased their anticipation. They stretched their arms to the sky and called for The Egg to bless them by falling. Deep in the hearts of the birdmen was a thing never spoken of and rarely even aknowledged to themselves, a common secret, that when The Egg actually fell it was not as good as the anticipation of it. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. It threw tempting little waves flirtatiously on the shore. 'Come,' it said, 'come.' The sea glittered with promise, it whispered sweet nothings as it rolled the tiny gem pebbles on the beach. 'Come to me,' it said, 'I will show you the world, the true meaning of life.' The people felt the pull, the blood pumping in their veins, like a magnet they were drawn towards the sea. Mesmerised, bewitched, they stripped of their clothes, leaving them in molehills on the beach. The breeze caressed bare bottoms, free from the constraints of life. They stepped cautiously at first but as excitement overwhelmed them they broke into a run as they neared the water. The sea tickled their toes and beckoned them in, making sweet promises of delightful pleasures. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. Surrealist Large Painting Royal College of Art LGBTQ+ Female Artist Pink Prawns
Located in Norfolk, GB
Isabel Rock is a creator of contemporary fairy tales. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, her work is an explosion of strange occurrences while a surreal narrative takes the audience on a journey into the imagination. In October 2023 Isabel won the Evelyn Williams Drawing Award at the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. Known as the UK’s most prestigious annual open exhibition for drawing; part of the prize is a solo show at Hastings Contemporary, scheduled for 2024. Whilst Isabel always has a tale to tell for each of her images, you may or may not choose to go on the journey with her or you may indeed have a different story, one of your own that jumps off the page at you, that that you decide to follow. Artwork Details: Tom Yum Yum, 142x121.5cm, ink, mixed media and acrylic paint on paper, 2013 Artwork Provenance: from the Artist Studio photo credits, Isabel working, black and white shots, James Brown In Isabel's own words: Tom Yum Yum Of the King prawns, the normal prawns and the shrimps, all prawns were equal when they were in the soup. There was no monarchy in the hot volcanic bubbles of the boiling tasty soup. All the prawns had regrets, some more than others. Some regretted they had spent more time with their prawn spawn, others that they had been kinder to their friends, it all seemed rather trivial now, the petty jealousies, the rivalry, the endless striving to get ahead, trying to find the best mating partner. None of it really mattered as the soupy steam engulfed them. 'We had a good time,' shouted one valiant King prawn, 'I did my best,' came a high squeak of a shrimp. 'I tried to be content with what I had, that's all that matters but it is hard when constantly bombarded with images of others success,' said a thoughtful prawn. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. Whilst the work is on heavy duty art paper and mixed media, the artist is happy that the painting will be fine rolled in a tube. Artwork Details: The Storm, 140x140cm, collaged woodblock print, acrylic ink, acrylic paint, 2020 * Please note this artwork is on two separate pieces of paper that have been joined together. The join is not obvious when looking at the work. At the time Isabel was desperate to make the piece but did not have a large enough piece of paper in the studio, so she joined two together. Artwork Provenance: from the Artist Studio photo credits, Isabel working, black and white shots, James Brown In Isabels own words: The Storm It started with a butterfly flapping its wings, which caused an ant to drop a leaf it was carrying, the leaf fluttered and spun, it tickled the nose of a fox returning to its den, the fox sneezed which awoke a sleeping dog, the dog barked and the fox screamed, a baby in a house began to cry. The storm clouds gathered, threatening, grey, black, blue, like swollen bruises from the blows of life. Round and round they whirled, the butterfly flapping and flipping with them. People looked out of their windows and knew that the sky was falling on their heads. The swirling vortex opened and all life was sucked away, never to be seen again. All that was left was the tiny butterfly who shrugged its tiny shoulders and flapped its wings. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. Whilst the work is on heavy duty art paper and mixed media, the artist is happy that the painting will be fine rolled in a tube.
