Born in Moosic, PA, and graduated from the College of Fine Arts of Syracuse University in New York, J Philip Richards worked and studied with such artists of international reputation as William Von Schlagell, James Fitzgerald, David Porter, and John Taylor.He was professor emeritus of Fine Arts at Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
